It seems that there are a lot of birthdays at the moment (cough mine on the 27th cough) so it got me thinking - what do orgers do on their birthdays?

Do you have a Birthday tradition? Does your mum still bake you a cake every year? Does your partner or family spoil you rotten? Do your work colleagues decorate your work station? What do you love to do on your birthday?

Ever since I hit my late 20s/30s, I really don't like celebrating. I hate hate hate being in my 30s. And my birthday generally falls around a Memorial Day, which in the US is like the first 3-day weekend of summer, so most of my friends end up being on vacation.

For the past few years, I've been taking the actual day off of work. It started because I didn't like my supervisor and didn't want to deal with her fake bullshit niceness and have to faux-celebrate with my co-workers. At the job I have now, I have kept pretty quiet about when it is, so last year it passed by without an acknowledgement. This year I am taking the day off. No real plans -- just sleep in, go to Central Park if the weather is nice, maybe out to eat.

What do I like to do? Nothing too different to a normal day. Sex, a nice meal out, maybe take a stroll around the shops or go swimming. Just spending time with the missus. Oh, sometimes a family barbecue and a few drinks in the evening.

I used to make myself a fancy black forest cake for a few years then I got sick of it, I don't even eat cake now

My mum used to make me a plum tart, but she moved house and doesn't have a plum tree anymore

Ideally I would like breakfast in bed, like crepes or waffles but I am the one who makes it so I stand slaving over a hot stove for an hour or so instead

I'd like to go to IKEA and then Fritz Gelato by the beach

Since my birthday is the Summer Solstice & happens to fall around the weekend for the goth/ebm/industrial/dark 80's club night my friends have, I usually just celebrate at the club. My friends are the djs, they end up throwing in some songs that they know are my fave. The first set is usually trip hop and ethereal-type stuff. Other than that, just a small ice cream cake w/ the family and relax. At first, I was bummed out to hit my 30's, but I'm trying not to focus on the age and just do what makes me happy (dancing). Love that not all the people at our club night are youngsters.

I really don't like the attention but family and friends always end up doing something for me anyway I get goodies and dinner usually

Unfortunately I'm so swampped with school work I won't be doing anything until this weekend. God damn you education.

Mine was a few wks ago...hubby took me out for dinner, my choice. i choose fish & chips.

at my age i dont make a big deal of it, i dont give hubby a card, he doesnt get me one...kind of silly b/c i just end up tossin in the trash.
hubbys is in 2 wks, i saw a set of pots on sale, gonna get that. & YES...he loves to cook.

I love birthdays. I guess I don't feel old yet - I celebrate big-time!

It's my birthday in a couple of weeks and i've got together a group of friends to play paintball the day before.
My husband has taken my birthday off work, so i'm hoping he'll take me somewhere nice for lunch... and I'll have friends and family over in the evening.

I am also under pressure from some of my friends to have a big drunken night out, so I have to arrange that.... and another group of friends are taking me out for a birthday meal.

I really don't do much for my birthday.

I always want to do something fun for my birthday but it never works out that way.
