Your Facebook (or other soicial sites) Friends policy.

Yes . Im about 5 years behind the times and after resisting as much as I could I have joined Facebook. My real life friends have talked me into it and now i'm in. Now Im under pressure to build my friends list . I see all these people with hundreds and even thousands of friends. Im sitting here with 20 friends so far . These are actually people I talk to and would consider a friend in the outside Facebook world.

So now I m looking to become a friend whore I guess. I see all these people I work with , people i went to high school and elementary school with , friends of friends ive talked to at parties, neighbors , relatives,ex landlords, acquaintances that I know but dont really like. you get the point . I could really rack up some numbers if I want. Where do you draw the line in obtaining friends? I mean everytime you comment to someone a mass alert goes out to everyone on your friends list. Does my ex coworker need to know that my friend I hang with has a tooth ache ?

What is your policy on befriending people on social sites ? Are you a friend whore or are you selective? Do you go out and ask people to become your friend or do you wait for people to come to you ? Whos off limits? Do you reject people who request to be your friend , if you do you feel bad about it? and so on .....

...and really, do you have 1,815 friends?

I resisted for a long while too, but I've now been on for a year and only have about 50 friends. I'm hidden, so people can't search for me, but friends of friends can see me (which is a bit of a bitch but I can't seem to change that).

I have ignored friends requests from a couple of people, yes. I'm quite a private person so I was never going to just throw the door open. Everyone who I'm friends with on Facbook, I'm friends with or related to outside of facebook.

If I don't know them I won't have them on my list.

The net is filled with undesirables. Be careful who you invite as friends.
