I've been pretty loyal to Bobbie Brown for the last 12 years. I like to accentuate my collection lips from MAC and Stila, and pencils from Christian Dior, though. Bobbie used to make a killer jumbo lip pencil in the 90's though, the best I've ever seen in years of working with some of the world#s top make-up artists from Italian Elle, Marie Claire, Cosmo, Glamour...it was matte, and the red colors were INSANE and lasted forever...then the bitch stopped making them . I've been in mourning over that jumbo pencil for at least 8 years now, nothing will ever come close

No, you need to go to a counter to get your recipe. You can order re-fills online by registering your specific mix. I could not tell by that link they are in stores.

I don't really have a favorite - I like different lines for different things.
Laura Geller - love her foundation. I never wore a primer until I tried Spackle from her line. Use that and her Phenomenal Foundation and your base is set for the whole day. It won't rub off or sweat off. I've even used it as theatrical make-up. And it gives you a wonderful, smooth (not cakey or flat) finish. Stila - makes the best eyeliner. Smudgepots are a gel liner that really stays put. I've cried in that stuff onstage - and not had to re-apply. Christian Dior - makes the only lipsticks that don't totally dry out my lips. They also have the prettiest eye shadow colors. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

During All Star weekend I had my face done at the Bobbi Brown counter at Nordstrom's Friday, twice on Saturday, and on Sunday. BUT I schedule appointments with my makeup artists in advance AND I tip plus buy tons of product all the time. Besides, I come in with my foundation and cheeks done and just have them do my eyes. My homegirl was a Bobbi Brown makeup artist and she told me this is what they are there for since they don't make commission anyway. Also, it's how they get clients for side gigs. The girl who does my makeup also does Mark Cuban's wife makeup. He owns Dallas' basketball team and is a billionaire. So, I'm getting Shelly on the discount. Now MAC, them bustas have a minimum $50 purchase to get your face done. [Edited 2/24/10 23:01pm] Here at the mall i decided 2 get my makeup done- went to the revlon counter cause i like their stuff- 40 bux purchase. the girl did the worst damn job!!!!! never again . Hayull to tha naw! On the Friday, I got there late and couldn't find my usual artist, so I went over to MAC to see if they could do my eyes. The girl was all diva-ISH, borderline rude, after I told her I just needed my eyes done, talkin' bout: "You DO know that we are KNOWN for our eyes, that's OUR trademark, OUR signature, and takes almost an hour. And our weekend minimum purchase is in effect." I'm like: "It's really not that serious, but thanks." Thank God my Bobbi artist came out from the back at that exact moment. In all the years I've been going to Bobbi, I've never had anyone act like that. They're not supposed to accept a tip but I "force" it on them.

I KNOW what you mean, she will get rid of some shit. She discontinued her oil-free makeup replacing it with the Skin line I bought last week. I ain't sure how I feel about the change but I'ma give it a shot.

I used to be a makeup artist for runway shows. I really should get back into it.
Anyway, I like a mix of expensive and drugstore brands. I really like and use NARS and Dior, but I also like drugstore brand - especially mascara. I do a coat of this: and then a coat of this over it: And my lashes look better than the lash extensions I got a couple of months ago.

Ex-Moderator | I use that lash stiletto. I love that stuff.
As for the rest, I buy mostly cheap stuff. Surprise, surprise. I’ve got a handful of Mac lipsticks and glosses, but I don’t wear stuff on my lips unless I’m going out at night, which is pretty damn rare these days. I just don’t bother to reapply throughout a work day. I really, really need to get back to using Mary Kay for my face wash, moisturizer and foundation, though. My skin has never looked better than when I was using that regularly. Particularly the foundation. It really is the best-est thing ever on my face. And with my rosecea, I have to wear it every day now. I never used to. I’m intrigued to try the Mac kohl liner, though, if it really doesn’t wash away from the lower lid. I’ve used the same liquid eyeliner for about 19 years and I’m not about to change that one up, but I use a pencil on my lower lid and I’ve never been happy with any one brand. |

Ex-Moderator | I also now will only buy products from companies that don't test on animals. And where before I took an "ignorance is bliss" approach, I actively look it up now.
So that narrows the field considerably. |

I am totally clueless to all this. . . Me too and I am a woman. I have to be very careful with anything that comes in contact with my skin. I have tried a Clinque product or two, not sure if they make make-up or just things like moisturizers. I use a natural mineral powder that I ordered online, no big fancy name but it works. I make it into a liquid base by mixing with a light face moisturizer and apply it with an eye makeup brush. I just use a light coat to cover acne scars. I used Dermablend makeup for about 9 years to cover the scars. They kept changing the foundation and now I cannot get the one that really worked so I gave up.It was too expensive to waste my money on anymore. I have found that Almay products keep my skin happy and do not cause any adverse reacts with my skin or eyes. I cannot get Almay products where I am living now, I had my mom bring me the basics over from the states last Sept.

Makeup Forever Stila Laura Mercier Jane Iredale Best tinted moisturizer ever. Yes! I love her stuff for everyday use...and Jane Iredale has awesome shadow palets for everyday and because it's mineral makeup it lasts all day, even after the gym! I like Stila's shimmer foundation and the blushes but not shadows. Makeup forever has great cream shadows that last for days and I love the pigments from Mac. I'm also a fan of Nars blushes and eye pencils.

I know little about this stuff because my wife only generally does lipstick and, occasionally, eyeliner and mascara. If she does full eye shadow, foundation, etc., that means Jesus is visiting or something.
She uses MAC, though, and she's never had a problem finding gorgeous shades that suit her skin tone. The products seem to last, they're never cakey or greasy, and they smell awesome. Also, I love MAC's corporate identity/service mix. We walk up in their swanky boutiques, and, heck, even I suddenly feel like some supermodel/jet setter. They treat you really well: They're incredibly attentive, they always want to do up my daughter's face for fun, and it seems they're constantly throwing free stuff at us. I have never bought MAC, and it has nothing to do with the product.
I don't buy their stuff because, at the department store I go to most frequently, they insist on blasting their own (usually annoying) music, despite the fact that there's already music on in the store. I think that's obnoxious. And obnoxious doesn't sell me. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I love MAC for there dramatic color pigments and there very dark kohl eyeliners. I have found there is no other eyeliner that will stay in the inner rim of my eyes without washing away.. truly a magical product! (wonders if prince uses this?) lol Anyway Im curious as to what you all prefer (I love beauty talk) I love MAC!!! It's the only line that achieves the look I want for myself. Other than that I use Dior's Diorshow Blackout mascara (the best ) and some of Dior's lip glosses and eye shadow colors. They work well with my oily skin. I have a mix of what I like and what I can afford.
I wear Neutrogena foundation, Benefit dandelion blush (LOVE that stuff), Maybelline liquid eyeliner, Bare Minerals and Body Shop eyeshadow, and either Neutrogena Weightless Volume (not super-huge lashes, but no clumping ever) or Cover Girl waterproof something-or-other mascara. Lately I'm addicted to Korres pomegranate lip butter, and the only lipstick I wear anymore is MAC. "What's 'non-sequitur' mean? Do I look it up in a Fag-to-English dictionary?"
