I haven't tried that. I do make sure I get plenty of vitamin C in general though.

I just moisturize. shrug Oh, and clip my nose hair. And obsess over keeping my finger and toe nails neat and clipped. Oh, and file off the top layer of my nails from time to time to keep them looking bright and clean. That's when I'm not out in the sun with lemon juice in my hair. falloff

What's Clorox? Is that like Dettol? I very occasionally put a drop of Dettol in a bowl of water and clean my face with it. That's only if I've really bad skin and been out in the grime of the city all day or something though.

Oh, well Dettol is an antiseptic but is probably similar in some ways.

Dettol Antiseptic Liquid Disinfectant (also called parachlorometaxylenol, or PCMX) is the name of commercial liquid and solid antiseptic products belonging to a household product line manufactured by Reckitt Benckiser.

The active ingredient which defines its unique antiseptic property is an aromatic chemical compound known as chloroxylenol (C8H9ClO). This makes up 4.8% of Dettol's total mixture,[1][2] with the rest composed of pine oil, isopropanol, castor oil soap, caramel, and water.

Dettol can also be used to treat acne in small quantities

I've never heard of Watson's but I've seen Cetaphil in other countries because the manufacturer is a Swiss company. No worries Fauxie, your "wife" will be silky smooth in no time. nod

I love that, Aquaphor and for me as a personal preference because of my tendency to get hyperpigmentation from clogged pores (bacne) I use 100% coconut oil (refined) to mix with a lotion.

The coconut oil absorbs deeply and helps my dark spots to fade fast.

I ended up buying some after you recommended it, I used whole thing!!! I love it on my skin, I need to buy some more! nod

Vaseline intensive care lotion- HEALTHY BODY COMPLEXION or TOTAL MOISTURE CONDITIONING- and during winter just add a little vaseline petroleum jelly with the lotion.

for seriously dry patches try 100% shea butter- it stank so put it on at night- it works wonders for dry skin- cover the area cause its very oily

if nothing else works- try a eucerin or minerin cream
LOVE HARD.

How about specifically for scars and healing the skin quicker? My wife's such a monkey, a real all-action tomboy, and she gets scrapes and scratches all the time (she's kinda clumsy too), and the marks take months to fade and sometimes never disappear. There's a long 3 or 4 inch mark on her arm where she grazed herself falling down that after 2 years is still faintly visible.

This is good.

It's funny that you brought this up cuz just last week I was struggling with how dry my skin has been lately because of the unusually cold, dry winter we've had in Dallas this year. My normal Kiehl's moisturizer just wasnt getting it.

So I started doing my research and was preparing to drop a grip on some fancy, schmancy cleansers, moisturizers and toners (often ashy/dry skin is not just from lack of moisture but also because your cleanser/soap is actually drying your skin out). While searching I came across Cetaphil online and decided to give their moisturizer and cleanser a try. I am officially in love with this stuff.

After one use, the dry areas on my cheeks disappeared. The next day, I went to buy some new makeup, and the makeup artist who's done my face before said, "What are you using on your skin??? It feels like a baby's butt." I took that as a compliment. That was only after 2 uses, so needless to say Cetaphil is my SHIT!!! I use it on my hands and feet and keeps me well de-ashed. thumbs up!

that's what I use on my face to keep it young

[Edited 2/24/10 17:28pm]

highfive I'ma get this next. My face was SO dry I've been using the moisturizing cream because it's heavier. But for the summer I'm switching to daily with spf. thumbs up!

Cetaphil is always what the Dermatologist used to recommend for my acne prone combination skin. Works well, is not heavy and greasy.
The moisturizer companies must be doing well this winter.

For sure, the ashiness has been ridiculous. shake

Acne's never been a problem for me so I just stuck to what I've been washing my face with for years Neutrogena Acne Wash. But I think that combined with the weather was too drying so I had to seek out something new. Glad I tried Cetaphil before spending a fortune in Kiehls for 1/4 the amount of product. Love my Kiehl's toners tho.

I used to never use lotion on my face because I would always break out, but finally I found this. I have also used Purpose, which is pretty good, but it irritates my eyes more if I sweat.

Go to your laxative section (seriously) pick up a bottle of mineral oil and mix it with your lotion. A dermatologist's recommendation. The oil is GREAT and it costs a dollar fifty. I use it all the time now. Haven't spent much on lotion since this discovery. The hubs has eczema and his doctor suggested mineral oil with the lotion.
