Teen arrested for breakdancing on an expensive floor Police: Dancing teen's belt buckle gouges floor
20 hours ago CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. : Police said they've arrested a teenager who caused thousands of dollars in damage to a western New York home's hardwood floor by break dancing on it while wearing a large diamond belt buckle. Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard said the 18-year-old apparently was intoxicated when he arrived at a house party held by the victim's daughters in Elma, a small town just east of Buffalo. He said when the teen repeatedly tried to break dance he gouged the floor and caused about $3,000 worth of damage. Police said the victim was on vacation at the time. A sheriff's deputy arrested the teen Sunday night at his home in neighboring Cheektowaga, a Buffalo suburb. The teen faces a felony criminal mischief charge and a misdemeanor trespassing charge. He's been jailed pending arraignment. Copyright 2010 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. Okay yeah, I get the fact that the teen should be held responsible for paying for the damages and getting the floor fixed, but why was he arrested just for damaging a floor during a house party that the owner's daughters were having while the owner's were on vacation??? If he was in fact trespassing, then why wasn't the police called that night by the party givers saying that this fool is in this party messing up mommy and daddy's floor and he won't stop???? Am I the only one that feels that this arrest was a bit over the top???? I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

That's awesome (not the being arrested part). The kid can say "Yeah, I got arrested, arrested for scratchin' up some tight ass's hardwood floor wid my bling." Ridiculous that he was arrested for this? Definitely.

LOL. I love their "Breakin" movies. "You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup...Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend." - Bruce Lee

Thank you. Sounds like the old snobs got some high powered lawyer to do their dirty work. I bet they didn't even ground their daughter's for throwing the party, that obviously they didn't know about, while they were "away on vacation" Sounds a lot like those 80's teen movies. The rich kids throw parties but when the kids from the other side of the tracks come, do their dances and stuff, gets the crowd going, then its a problem. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

wow I read the charges again and those are ridiculous, especially "trespassing" at a party, lol!
if he was at a party and wasn't welcome, he would have been kicked out or removed by police. you're not allowed to ruin property just because you were invited onto the premises though, obviously the damage to the floor is going to have to be recouped.

He should have to pay for the floor but he shouldn't have been arrested since he was invited to the party. The ones they really should go after are the damn skateboarders who come uninvited onto City owned property and destroy it. Andy is a four letter word.

That's what I'm saying. That's why I am a fan of Judge Judy. She always cuts through the bullshit, but justice is still served. She'd be like "well did you call the police?" or "did you ask your friends to help remove him from your home?" something like that. Then they'd be all "uh.. uh"

"Cheektowaga, a Buffalo suburb" now wouldn't this somehow be even funnier if this kid is white?

I don't see any of these criminal charges sticking. The party invite will blast any notion of trespassing out of the water. And dancing isn't criminal mischief unless there was some sign up forbidding it by law.
The family would be better simply suing him to recoup the costs of repair. That'd stick. My hunch, though, is they've pressed charges here in some attempt to make a statement. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

He might be, SCNDLS. I've been in Cheektowaga numerous times. The place is darned-near completely Polish. [Edited 2/23/10 10:32am] Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

The charges aren't saying much if none of Becky's other friends aren't slapped with "trespassing". I am guessing Becky had this party to be more popular and invited some of the "bad" boys, and discovered the damage the next morning, or her parents did after they moved the throw carpet she moved on top of it.
