I cried at work today.

So I've been sick since last Thursday and I finally took yesterday off (after ultimately getting no better this weekend). I'm feeling a bit better, still a bit sick but I decided I better get my ass back to work today.

The thing is, I've been getting really sick a lot lately and I feel awful about missing work. I hate trying to come back and catch up, missing deadlines and just feel like I am letting my work down for not being there. Plus I have a 4 year old who picks everything from school and daycare and therefore gets sick a lot too so I need to take time off to care for him. Right there is more time missed.

Well, I got a 20 minute lecture from my boss about coming in sick when he called in and I couldn't deal with it so I burst out in tears. Then whenever anyone asked if I was ok, I cried some more. lol

Anyway, I was sent home until Thursday...damn, if I am not better by then...I think I'll have an aneurysm from stress.

Ugh. Not a good day at all.

See, I am human, I do feel emotions. lol

I have always found the sick issue in employment a very sticky wicket. When you do call in sick it seems the next day @ work you're on trial and everyone is giving you the stink eye thinking you were faking it. Then when you come in feeling ill you get shit for bring it to everyone else.

Always seesm like a no win situation. sad

I get really annoyed lately with all the sick people who come into work.

**prejudice alert**

And it seems to be parents most often. I think that they become so immune (figuratively) to the constant running noses of their children that they think that we all want to wipe their noses as well! mad mad smile

Exactly! I was out for a week last month. I was going to go to work,My doctor made me stay home.

Yesterday,my boss asked me if I was out interviewing during that time. WTF!?
She was the one that discovered the egg size lump in my neck. Thats why I went to the Dr!

Now I have to deal with a bunch of un fairness here.

Yeah I feel guilty when I call in sick, and sometimes it turns out I am not sick after all. So I get some rest, come in feeling better the next day, but I get the feeling that people assume I am lying.

But you know what? I have hundreds of sick hours accrued. They're available, why should I feel guilty to use them?

But I still do feel guilty.

Agreed. nod It's gotten to the point where I'm paranoid to even call in sick to work, for the very reasons that you stated.

omfg That's not right at all. hug I have long been of the opinion that most bosses (but not all) don't give a damn when you're sick. If you do get a boss that actually cares, then you're very lucky, because they seem to be few and far between.
