I like this idea. Maybe I'll take a photo of one of my bookshelves (not the one with the pr0n) and post tomorrow morning.

I have a wall of bookshelves:
#1: All Stephen King novels and Harry Potter books on the bottom shelf
#2: (descending order) Vampire books/the Hannibal Lecter series, Erotica, a couple of books about shoes, African American books, Smiley decorations, and yearbooks
#3: (descending order) classic novels, random books, VC Andrews books (from backinthaday), more random books, photo albums

Then I have my "academic books" from Grad school:

Believe it or not, my friend's mom had that doll on the shelf made for me in RU colors. She had another one made for my friend in Princeton's orange and black.

I have a RU "flag" and pennant on another wall. wink

I have so many books! (Occupational hazard of being an art historian...) I can't bear to part with my art history books; I still use them when I am doing research. But my bookshelves are overflowing, I need to go through and get rid of some of them.

On the top and top shelf:
Exhibition catalogues from various museums, my cd case of *ahem* live Prince recordings; classic lit, fiction; alphabetical by author's last name.

After that comes poetry (Shakespeare, the Gitagovinda) and philosophy

Then comes more exhibition catalogues, individual artist monographs, and hardcore art theory/criticsm (thanks grad school). Second to bottom shelf has my Marilyn Monroe books, my journals, and more art theory (not the hardcore kind).

Bottom shelf:
Survey art history books and notebooks from undergrad, two copies of my MA thesis.

Trinkets include my I heart NY ornament, Legends of Rap trading cards, and a lot of little things friends have brought me from their travels to Japan, Thailand, France, etc.

This bookshelf I found on the curb! (A real NY bargain!) It's solid wood and weighs a ton, but somehow I dragged it up 4 floors by myself. lol

The top shelf are my binders of exhibition information (object checklists, articles, essays) for exhibitions that I've lead tours for.

The middle shelf is sort of left overs from the other shelf-- my French books, dictionaries (French, Spanish, English), and my Chicago Manual of Style.

The bottom shelf has binders from all of my grad school seminars -- syllabi, articles, notes, etc, -- and my thesis research.

geek

I hardly ever buy books anymore, but I get free exhibition catalogues from the museum where I give tours so I still end up with a ton of books.
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

I've turned my basement into a "music room". I have a bookcase with books about Prince, Jimi, and a few other musicians, plus some pictures. The bottom shelf has tour books...

My books are divided by fiction and non fiction and then divided again by what kind of books they are. like the first pictures are like gay writers/gay fantasy novels/fantasy novels/ mangas/ basically anything fiction, etc

the second my witchy books, relating on magick, santeria, wicca, satanism, christian mysticism, kemetic.

the last is my art and poetry books.

Off the top of my head, it's mostly vocational stuff with a bit of personal interest here and there...

A bunch of comparative theology books with a few dedicated titles on Hinduism, Islam, Judaism and indigenous magick traditions; assorted Hebrew, Greek and English bibles and commentaries; several books on Christian history; a few comparative mythology/esoterica book and journals; a book of Medieval European and Near-East folklore from the 1800s; an Encyclopedia Africana; complete works of James Baldwin, Oscar Wilde and Edgar Allan Poe; a couple poetry books; an annotated Dracula and Frankenstein; a couple books on theological aesthetics and religious art, assorted black Americana; a few monograph books by favorite photographers and painters; a Canadian history book (which I've yet to crack redface); a Canadian Citizenship handbook; Greek, Hebrew and Latin dictionaries; an elephant box filled with incense; a brass lotus flower-shaped incense burner; an antique globe; a small wooden cat figurine, complete series DVDs of Six Feet Under, Dollhouse and Dead Like Me and season 1 of True Blood. In storage back in Cleveland, I've got a ton of old international travel guides and National Geographics that I amassed from the library where I used to work and maybe 10 of my favorite films (I've never collected many DVDs or video tapes). Um... that's about it for me.

...My wife's got the multicultural feminist lit, psychological/psychiatric and Francophone stuff covered in our house. But I make sure we keep our collections separate. I'm just OCD that way. redface

I have 4 bookshelves lol

2 in Florida
1 in Alabama
and 1 here in Thailand falloff

I can't possibly remember everything that I have, but some notable personal standouts are:

1. Lord of The Rings books (I don't actually like reading them--but they're nice looking books. lol )
2. Childhood's End - Arhtur C. Clarke
3. A bunch of Tim Dorsette books
4. Lord of the Flies - William Golding
5. The Count of Monte Cristo - Alexander Dumas
6. Gods Behaving Badly - Marie Phillips
7. A bunch of bunks on Religion and Buddhism
8. Too many travel books to remember
9. A Short History of Nearly Everything - Bill Bryson (actually I love ALL of his books)
10. Einstein's Universe - Micheo Kaku (sp?)
12. A bunch of books by Richard Dawkins on Evolution and the non-existence of God.
13. Penguin Books - History of World War II
14. A bunch of books by Haruki Murakami, who could possibly be my favorite author right now. OMG, brilliant.

ok, I gotta stop. My 'standouts' could easily be twice as long a list as what I've posted, if I keep going. boxed

Propaganda yes. That was THE magazine to buy in the goth scene in the early 90s. It steered from goth music to the fetish photography towards the end of its run though. My friend was one of its models.

Don't know PFIQ.

Yes it is. I haven't read all of it yet myself, but will definitely revisit the volume about Alice after the new Alice in Wonderland movie comes out.
