this is a great thing to get kids to do at even a early age. good for you and I hope you make very good readers out of your children. They will thank you someday.

Here in the states they have programs similar to this in the schools. They read X amount of books and get tickets to water parks or fun parks. Some are for baseball games. They always seem to enjoy it and it gets them to read It always keeps them out of your hair for a while again

its good to encourage ur kids to read at the early age the better..helps them to be good at reading when they get older....and its helps them alot especially with english ... u cant beat reading ,,,u can learn so much from them
its good to get the kids to be interesting to read many books as they can to become more wiser.....they will gain so much insights with reading...

Each year they do this, and I've signed up my eldest 2

The book list is miles long, and it makes it so easy for my guys to read now.

Oscar never had any issues, but Wally just whined and tried to get away with as little reading as he could. I've now set aside a shelf in their room with books from the list (we had about 20 of them already) and they just go in there grab a book and read - they have to read 5 nights a week from 8pm to 8:30pm, but if they don't want to go to sleep already they can continue optional reading to 9pm (do you think they ever opt to sleep very clever mummy!) Wally is now plowing through a chapter book each night and before he goes to bed, sets out the next night's book ready to start! AND the kids go to sleep so easily on the reading nights, no messing around after bedtime.

i just asked Ben, it hasnt been launched yet.
They have had it the last 2 yrs, but we have an election next month, maybe they are waiting for that to finish...may have a different premier

he is reading right now though, keeps reading out funny bits to me."hey mum" .....
he reads all the time, but wants instant gratification from his books....quick reads over long reads....

we went to the library and got armloads of books from the list, some ARE quite short, so Wally can read a whole book in one sitting if he wishes.
