With the internet around, I really have to wonder how these magazines manage to survive. Although I guess wanking on the bed with a magazine can be more comfortable than trying to do it in front of the computer monitor. ;shrug:

When I hit 18, I bought some of their "special editions" that only had pictures and no articles whatsoever. They were stupidly expensive already back then, but I guess they were still in a whole lot better taste than most other stuff sold at newsstands.

Well they just published new work from Nabokov, and they regularly have exclusive stuff from other major writers.

Their interviews are famous, from John Lennon's last one, to Jimmy Carter's "I have sinned in my heart" one to John Mayer's current one.

They certainly have some respectable stuff to offer, but at some level I feel it's all image. Like a guy who only learns poetry just to impress women. I can enjoy every aspect of a playboy, and I respect hefner, but there are other ways to become well rounded. Playboy is a magazine, not a classic novel or a textbook.
