sextonseven, did you ever collect Propaganda or PFIQ magazines?

Propaganda yes. That was THE magazine to buy in the goth scene in the early 90s. It steered from goth music to the fetish photography towards the end of its run though. My friend was one of its models.

Don't know PFIQ.

Piercing Fans International Quarterly wasn't a Goth publication, but I noticed a good overlap of fan base. It featured lots of fetish, modern primitive, extreme body modification and BDSM stories and spreads. Not my scene, but I did once write a feature for them. They were intriguing.

I figured you'd know and love Propaganda. I really enjoyed reading it at the record store where I worked. I would ignore customers for hours! lol It was so impressive how, on the one hand, it was some raw little indie rag that seemed to come out of nowhere... yet the production quality was always progressively better, it was generally on time, and the content was so effecting!

I remember reading a review in Propaganda for an indie movie called "Begotten." The whole macabre environment of the film was written about in such a vivid and unsettling way -- it's the closest I've ever come to fainting. faint (The actual movie wasn't quite as arresting, for better or worse.)

My bookcase has a misfortunate accident at a party that I had last year. sad
As a result, most of my books are put away in a closet.
The few that I have out are shoved on this little piece of shit.
Henceforth why I need my 'BILLY' Bookcase from IKEA!

I have 4 bookshelves lol

2 in Florida
1 in Alabama
and 1 here in Thailand falloff

I can't possibly remember everything that I have, but some notable personal standouts are:

1. Lord of The Rings books (I don't actually like reading them--but they're nice looking books. lol )
2. Childhood's End - Arhtur C. Clarke
3. A bunch of Tim Dorsette books
4. Lord of the Flies - William Golding
5. The Count of Monte Cristo - Alexander Dumas
6. Gods Behaving Badly - Marie Phillips
7. A bunch of bunks on Religion and Buddhism
8. Too many travel books to remember
9. A Short History of Nearly Everything - Bill Bryson (actually I love ALL of his books)
10. Einstein's Universe - Micheo Kaku (sp?)
12. A bunch of books by Richard Dawkins on Evolution and the non-existence of God.
13. Penguin Books - History of World War II
14. A bunch of books by Haruki Murakami, who could possibly be my favorite author right now. OMG, brilliant.

ok, I gotta stop. My 'standouts' could easily be twice as long a list as what I've posted, if I keep going. boxed

I bought the boxset and "The Hobbit" still has the bookmark in it. yawn
They're on the shelf with The "Harry Potter" books.

The hobbit was a pretty good, charming, quick read.

Lord of the Rings----lawd, that shit rambles...and rambles...and rambles...

Shit, you follow one group of motherfuckers for like 200 pages or some shit, then he swaps to another group... AND I'M JUST SUPPOSED TO REMEMBER WHAT THE OTHER GROUP DID 200 PAGES AGO?!?!!?!?!? paaahhhh-lllleeeeez

I thought the movies were far better paced. boxed Well, I did. hmph!

I only read two Harry Potter books so far (book 6 and book 7). Both were excellent and hilarious in parts. I think Rowling is quite adequate. nod

It is Lemony Snickett... SHHHH... shhh

I was given the set as a gift years ago, and one day I started reading them to my daughter, just because I thought that it would be a little more tolerable on my selfish behalf than Disney books. lol

Somewhere along the lines I kinda liked 'em... boxed

I prefer Cunningham. I like Ravenwolf's spell books, but not so much her "To..." collection. But I got 'em.

My mum gave my kids book 3, and of course as anal as my boys are, they refuse to read it if it's not from book 1.

I found book 1 at the library yesterday - we'll see what their excuse will be hammer

biggrin

I might read it myself I think lurking

You must be talking about the early issues. lol Towards the end it was published so infrequently that the last two issues might have even been on an annual schedule.

There were a few Propaganda video collections too on VHS. I'd love for those to be rereleased on DVD some day. However, watching them now might make me cringe. lol
