I love everyone bitching bout who cares, and why should he say he's sorry, when this shit broke that damn thread on here went on for more than 100 pages. People couldnt get enough of that shit.

Ya'll love this type of crap just be honest bout it.

I haven't seen or follwed any of what's actually happened with his story, but I LOVE the commentary here on the board! The commentary is what's the real entertainment for me! I just noticed at the grocery store check out he's on the front page of one of our lightweight newspapers here in Hamburg...I wasn't even remotely interested in what it had to say, other than observing that it looks like he's aging and is developing a double chin. Beyond that, I give not to pumps and a stroke what he does, although it does make for hilarious jokes here

All the people that keep saying Tiger doesn't owe anybody anything except his wife have zero understanding of business/ organizational life and will not go very far in their own personal endeavors of such. You can try to "should" away all the unspoken rules of corporate politics all you want. It ain't gonna happen. shrug And it doesn't matter whether you like it or not. People's opinions of you may not matter to you personally, but they most certainly matter when it comes to how far you go in business and in your career.

Tiger Woods is more than a golfer. Tiger Woods is a brand, a business entity. And that entity, just like all others, has people to answer to even if it's not you per se.

It has become apparent to me that when that a corporation is required, for many various reasons, they make media spectacles of their business entities. Common people wouldn't realize this, they just ride the wave of their personal opinions that the corporations have set up. Come on, this shit with tiger has been going on for ages. It just suddenly becomes an issue now? confused All the people who believe this are the suckers of the media and corporations. No one has to answer to anyone but what kind of sucker they are themselves.

I have no idea what you're trying to say. hug Let's just 'cuddle' and call it a day, though.

But again, generally speaking to everyone on this thread, if you truly don't care what Tiger has to say its probably because he's not talking to you. He's talking to the people that do care, and they care for whatever personal or business reasons. shrug

EXTREMELY well-said!

To me that's part of of the problem, this reducing of human beings to a brand or a product like a damn wiget or something. I think it contributes negatively to this whole celebrity/clown/infotainment culture. This is the way the game is played nowadays to where you have paparazzi and all manner of media scavengers thinking they have a right to be intrusive beyond the level of common decency, even staking out his wife and kids because Tigger "owes" all of us something?

Tigger has only his own immaturity and sense of entitlement to blame as far as providing the ammunition but I don't like this sentiment that implies a corporate entity somehow "owns" a person when they have paid them for services rendered. If he breached a clause in a contract that he signed then fine, fire him. If he broke his marriage vows, his wife has the option to divorce him, but the whole media circus thing is an f-ed uf phenomenon in and of itself.

And to me ^^ that is the problem. It ain't about you so stop making it about you. lol It's about Tiger, the business entity, paying what "it" owes to all the people that help make "it" what "it" is, and yes that includes the media.
But I do understand what you mean about how dehumanizing it all can be. shrug But that's just the way it is in business/ organizational life. It's not personal, it's business. It's not about people liking or even caring about you the person. It's about the rewards and penalities of everything you do or don't do.

I don't disagree with any of that. What I resent is the talking heads acting as though we should be making it about us, particularly on CNN. Apparenly the press conference wasn't enough because the commentary that followed repeatedly implied that we, (the media and the public) should demand more of Tigger because he didn't take questions and didn't look contrite enough to suit them.

Excuse me? lol

I never, ever see the same media drones demanding similar accountability of the people who actually make decisions that really are about us.

Lawd knows I can't stand Stephen A. Smith, but he pretty much sums up how I feel about Tigga's performance.

From what we could tell on the television screen, about 40 people were in attendance. Purportedly, they were friends, family, loved ones, and a few journalists. And just 14 minutes later, after a teary-eyed Tiger Woods sobbed, stuttered, and cowered beneath the spotlight in ways he’s never done on the golf course, he bowed his head and walked away, looking totally defeated and humbled.

Deservedly so!

This is the price liars pay. Particularly those of the Tiger variety. You know: the kind who does something wrong and hides. Who convinces himself he’s the victim. Who screeches at the media to “leave my family alone,” while conveniently ignoring the fact no reporters were in attendance besides three journalists handpicked by Woods’ PR team to attend – primarily because they agreed not to ask questions.

So let’s pause for a second and give a sincere round of applause to the Golf Writers Association of America, which boycotted this charade of a news conference rather than succumbing to these offensive and insulting conditions. Go ahead and believe Woods was contrite. But let it be said right here: That is total and utter nonsense. Friday’s farce was a Woods infomercial. Whatever he was selling, I’m not buying.

While Woods’ words were predictably appropriate and contrite, everything else about his presentation, including his body language and the lack of fluidity in his words, reeked of someone desperately trying to salvage whatever was left of his stained image.

His pregnant pause while staring into the camera before saying “I’m sorry” was fake. His stuttering and stumbling over written words spoke more about his lack of familiarity with those words than his discomfort with speaking them.

The hug Woods gave his mother was made for the highlight reels. And his walking away from the podium, head bowed, puppy-dog faced, was straight out of the soap operas.

Stay tuned! General Hospital may call him soon.

Quote Of The Day: Stephen A. Smith Goes In On Poor Little Tiger Woods…Calls His Speech “Soap Opera-ish”

“Many of you in this room are my friends. Many of you in this room know me. Many of you have cheered for me or you’ve worked with me or you’ve supported me,” Woods said, speaking in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. “Now every one of you has good reason to be critical of me. I want to say to each of you, simply and directly, I am deeply sorry for my irresponsible and selfish behavior I engaged in.

“I was unfaithful. I had affairs. I cheated. What I did was unacceptable, and I am the only person to blame.”

Sadly, after all of these months, Woods still doesn’t get it.

He probably never will.

His momma looked straight up pissed with him

Sayin' under her breath "ole bitch ass muhfucka...." lol

Lawd knows I can't stand Stephen A. Smith, but he pretty much sums up how I feel about Tigga's performance.

From what we could tell on the television screen, about 40 people were in attendance. Purportedly, they were friends, family, loved ones, and a few journalists. And just 14 minutes later, after a teary-eyed Tiger Woods sobbed, stuttered, and cowered beneath the spotlight in ways he’s never done on the golf course, he bowed his head and walked away, looking totally defeated and humbled.

Agreed.

I'm guessing Tiger's press conference got more attention than Accenture Match Play this weekend... razz

I have to wonder if that was by design.
