I don't much like NBA basketball any more anyways. The majority of the players are whiny, stupid ass geriatrics. It bores me to tears. Especially the Lakers. -------

You keep talkin', buddy... You have to admit that this hasn't been his best season. I'm not bashing him- he's good enough to get it back together. Maybe not with Memphis though, is what I'm thinking. Memphis has a lot of young talent and Battier is getting lost in the mix a lot of games.

The Lakers on knocking on 8th place with more than half a season left to take a few more positions in May. I don't like Shaq, but I guarantee the Lakers make the playoffs AND make it farther than the Rockets, but we'll have to see.
As for tonight, Shaq gonna prove to the league who deserves to be starting in the all-star game. Actually Shaq does not deserve to be the starting center in the allstar game. He missed the first 15 or 20 games because he didn't want to ruin his off season by having his operation early. Wrong. He missed the first 12 games because he got 3 different opinions from 3 different doctors about his surgical procedure. And had to wait for a certain amount of time before he even had the surgery after the end of last season. Let's get it right instead of assuming things. His play this year has been good, but no where near as good as it has been in the past. He is not nearly as explosive whether it's because of age or injury. With all the missed games and average play I would take Yao anyday as the starter.
Let's keep this in context: Ming's upside looks fabulous at this point for a rookie, but his stats are nowhere near Shaq's, regardless of how many games he's played or who starts or not. And I couldn't care less who starts the All Star game, but if you look at many rookie HOF Centers in the recent history of the game (maybe in the history of the game, I don't know) - including Shaq's, Ming's numbers are not comparable. His numbers are closer to Shawn Bradley's than to someone with a better career. Bradley never had the apparent skills Ming does though. The hype is there because he has a chance to be one of the greats in the future. The hype is there because he's almost damn near 8 feet tall. The hype is there because there is a dearth of quality NBA Centers and has been for a while. The hype isn't there because Ming is having a better season statistically. His teammates have called him out on the surgery issue and he called them out for bad play. The chemistry is as bad as it has ever been in LA and this year it will cost them.
Apparently you missed the part(s) in recent seasons where certain Lakers were at odds with each other before, AND their own coach, yet they still won titles? All I can say is, if there is ever a quiet Laker team with Phil Jackson at the helm, I'd wonder what's wrong. It doesn't matter because the Kings and Mavericks are clearly the best two teams.
The Mavericks can't hang with neither the Kings, nor the Lakers, nor any team with a good half court game and solid defense. Thus far they have proven to be a one-dimensional paper team. I think they probably know more then you or I do. Oh yeah to say the Lakers are better then Dallas is hilarious. One team is going to struggle to make the play-offs and the other is going to get the one seed.

Wrong again. I'm going by what two of those doctors have publicly said. It doesn't matter what his teammates say, they're every bit as frustrated as him. People say illogical things when they're frustrated sometimes. Oh yeah to say the Lakers are better then Dallas is hilarious. One team is going to struggle to make the play-offs and the other is going to get the one seed.
Really? To come from ahead to lose, to give up a 27 point lead in the 4th quarter to a team struggling to make the playoffs doesn't exactly back up your comments with facts. Any team worth the hype ought to be able to beat a team struggling to make the playoffs with a 27 point 4th quarter lead. Shouldn't they? Obviously you're speaking record-wise, not the teams playing against each other. Dallas has the best record and has been on the best streak in the first half, which any day now will be erased because of their recent slide. The only fact of the matter is that the Mavericks are playing against teams in the West expected to make the playoffs exactly like they did last year; by losing. The Kings will have the best record at least in their division at the end of this season, and Dallas will be nostalgic for what they once had. Teams that don't have efficient half court games and good defense don't go deep into the playoffs. Dallas is one-dimensional. It's a mirage.
