Though we have only had 4 nights so far where he has done more than 5 hrs at night, 3 of those nights he had a cold and did not have much of an appetite. Now that his appetite has returned, he is doing 3 eight ounce bottles through the night to the morning. Whenever I have talked to the health visitors about it, they just say, he is a hungry baby and it will change soon. 17 weeks in and I am still waiting for it to slow down. Somethings gotta give soon, mommy and daddy are tired. i remember his doctor saying that he would go on an eating spree around 3 weeks or so..yeah he just never came off it.. after a week of putting a teaspoon of cereal.. in an 8 ounce bottle.. i put it in every one of them for another week.. which didn't seem to change anything so i started making little bowls of it and feeding him that 3 times a day.. soon it was veggies and some fruits. and he had a tooth at 5 months also.. somewhere i have video tape of him.. where i ask him if he's 'yessing' and he would nod his head yes.. on his belly on a blanket holding his head up and when u ask if he's yessing he would nod but i feel for that sleeping thru the night thing his older brother was sleeping thru at 2 months..and him(Branden) at just over a month. i also found it strange that Branden( the younger) was not really napping like his older brother had..just one nap a day.. even when i put him down for his naps, he would just entertain himself..til it was time to get up Yes, I have been told that he is just going through a growth spurt. A very long growth spurt if it is one. Funny how they are all so different, even the ones that are siblings. Selden will only nap in his own bed. He has been very independent from an early age. He goes down in his crib awake and babbles himself to sleep. I think he is like mommy where he has to have his naps. He won't lay down in our bed at all to sleep. I have tried to get him to take a nap with me and he refuses, he has to be in his own bed, in his own room. It is great, except when we are not at home.

MrsMdiver said: Hi ya org parents.
I have been reading up on baby weaning at the moment. Seems like our little guy is getting close to needing more than milk. Do any of you have any words of wisdom on the subject. For those who will suggest that I consult a pediatrician instead of consulting the org, I have spoken with one of our health visitors for her advice. Here in the UK, the infants see the regular GP's for most everything and I have little faith in asking them questions about infants. The last one that we went to said that babies do not start to teeth until they are at least 6 months old. I know that is not 100% true but I did not argue with her. So, just thought I would ask the parents of the org if they had anything to contribute when it comes to weaning? Thank you. teeth can come as early as 3-4 months I've seen it with my own eyes! our maternal & child health nurse said just wait until kid shows an interest in food you are eating. With Oscar he tried to take a bite of a bun my mum was holding, and with Wally, I had him on my shoulder and I reached to shut the car door from the inside and he actually DID take a bite of my big mac (I didn't let him swallow any of it ) so then I started with the rice cereal and that

oh and don't worry, they slow down all right
I have a five year old that totally skips most meals every second day, he's been like that for a couple of years now. Once he started school though it's been really important for me to get at least breakfast into him and he has thankfully been returning home with about 90% of his lunch eaten too

Awww, little sugar... Mine were around 3 mos when the formula stopped satisfying them. I'd give them a bit of rice cereal in the morning bottle and a little again in the early evening. They both began sleeping through the night within days. When that no longer satistied them, I mixed some pureed sweet potato or peas with some baby water in the bottle and gave it to them. The reason I didn't try to spoon feed it to them initially is because the spoon seemed to hurt their little gums while they were teething. They were both more than six months old before I tried givng them anything with a spoon and around 12 months before I gave them anything not specifically for babies. My youngest had the constipation issue till my grandmother started putting a bit of Karo syrup in his bottle occasionally and it worked. I also gave them baby water and watered down baby juice occasionally at around six months. I basically went by the signals my baby was giving me and was careful not to introduce too many different things at once. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Awww thanks guys. He is quite squeezable.
Those cheeks get lots of kisses and nibbles. We are taking the food thing very slowly. Just some pureed fruits and veggies that will help his dry skin. He enjoys drinking water already, he likes to hold his small bottle & sippy cup and drink on his own. Poor guy was 17 days over due and born with extremely dry skin. This long harsh Winter has not helped. Trying to add some good fats and oils to his diet along with some ABC dophilis stuff that is supposed to help the stomach get the most out of the foods he eats.

He is still loving his solids.
Just giving him veg, fruits, & a variety of wholegrains so far. It is not making him sleep longer at night. He is still waking every 3-4 hours for food. If we are lucky we get a 5 hour stretch. I am hoping that one day we all get a continuous 8 hrs of sleep.
