John Gascot is Hung!

Page

I finally put up my Gascot art today. I lovez it. Here is a picture, and the caption I put on Flickr about it.

John Gascot is someone I know from online. He recently had a giving away of some of his Latin Pop Art prints. I won two 3x5 prints, matted to 4x6. The set was called Martini Love. The prints were individually titled Appletini On Pink and Cosmo On Green. I won them back in January. I, and John, have been long suffering in the wait for me to hang these prints. I knew I wanted to put them in the new home.

At first I thought, "These are small, where can I put these?" I wanted to make a big statement with them, and have them be more significant. I decided to put them in an 11x14 frame. As you can see, the frame is black, with a white matte. I put a black background (I just painted the cardboard that came in the frame itself black) under that, and then put his matte and print on top. I love the black/white/black/white/print play on them. They are hanging in the foyer area of my home, so they are the first two things people see once they step into the house. You can actualy see the doorbell to the right in the picture (although now that I think about it, that's an odd place to put the doorbell, as it should be deeper in the house for folks to hear - eh well).

3,121 thanks to John for his generosity, and sharing his talent with me, and everyone. Use the links above to visit the Facebook page dedicated to his artwork. There is a link to his regular site on there as well.

Those are great, and the matting you did really suits them.

They were supposed to be even. I measured and marked the holes with the same yardstick and a level. I guess I nailed it a bit off. I wanted them on the same level.

"personally" i would have put one higher than the other, as it gives each one it's own
unique space and creates comparison rather than "same as".. wink
