Didn't the captain tell him he had exceeded seating space capacity or some shit? It was worded in such a crazy way.

How to call somebody fat without calling them fat.

I'm afraid you have exceeded maximum capacity.

You are quite encircling.

You have a substantial amount of mass.

You have such portly eyes.

Did you know you resemble Saturn?

Sorry, we don't sell 534x.

spit faint I'm done . . . lol

. . . but what's really ironical is that this is the same dude that made fun of Prince for getting his sweats in the boys department at Nordstrom. Well, P can't help that he's vertically challenged but ain't no excuse for the amount of weight KS gained in the past year and maybe he's in denial about how big he's gotten and needed a wake up call. Instead of clowing Southwest he needs to consider making some lifestyle changes.

nod Shit he need to get laid!!! Women have uncontrollable factors that contribute to weight gain; havin' baby bratz, hormones, man stress, snacking in between takin' care of said bratz and man. A dude aint got no excuse other than he eatin' too much Micky D's and cream pies and not enough pussy. Obviously Princey eat plenty pussy cuz he so nice and slender...gettin' all dat protein and wutnot.

Yes it's true. Women can excerise and diet but trying to control natural body fat will always be a struggle (unless you are an extreme ectomorph). Most women tend to develop and maintain after childbirth body fat in their waist, belly, ass, and face.

I think it's a struggle for almost everyone, especially as they get older. You might be right that some of those things are a factor, but I think it's a slowing metabolism, eating too much/not the right things, and lack of exercise that is the biggest factor for both men & women.

And I'm not sure "havin' baby bratz, hormones, man stress, snacking in between takin' care of said bratz and man" are really uncontrollable factors (except maybe for hormones)!

ya know! I'm not even half this dude's size and I find it hard to buckle the damn seatbelt. Last time I flew I was like "fuck this sardine in a can feeling shit". Plus I've known fatter people who still fly.

You just said that you haven't listened to him directly, that you're taking the news by word of mouth. You're giving him the business for being too fat to fly and being ignorant and whiny.

Well, read HIS words on his twitter and listen to HIS story on his SModcast.

I'm going by what the airline statement saud which I happened to see on the local news since Southwest is based outta Dallas. I don't care that much about him or any other celeb to follow them on twitter. Nothing they have to say is that important to me.

My only question is: Does he dispute the airline's assertion that he routinely buys TWO seats when he flies on Southwest? If he does in fact buy two seats, then that says to me that he KNOWS their policy. He already had TWO seats on another flight and he chose at the last minute to switch to a full flight. There is no disputing the fact that he's a wide load, to say the least, and therefore should be prepared to de-plane if two seats aren't available. shrug

I listed to his SModcast and got his side of the story.

He says that he routinely buys 2 or 3 seats on Southwest. This is because Southwest flights are cheap as hell. He can afford it so he does.

The rules are that you must be able to fit in the seat. This means you can put on the seat belt, and the arm rests can be fully lowered.

Kevin Smith was able to put on his seat belt, and he was able to fully lower both arm rests.

Kevin was sitting between two women who both said they had no problem with him being there.

Kevin was just going to let this go, until on his later flight he bought 2 of the 3 seats on his side of the aisle. A large woman was sitting at the aisle seat which he didn't buy (leaving the middle seat open and paid for). Then she was motioned away by the stewardess and told that she may need to be bumped so she could purchase two seats. A woman who also could fit with the seat belt on and the arm rests down. Kevin Smith said that was the breaking point and that he would make more of a stink than just tweeting about it.

rolleyes That's HIS side of the story, Southwest said that the armrests didn't go down comfortably, which is totally plausible. It's not like he has a propensity for exaggeration or self-promotion. No, not at all.

He's the only one with anything to gain by keeping this going, he wasn't gonna let this go cuz it was an easy publicity grab. Nobody with sense is gonna boycott SW over this issue, especially since they have cheap, safe flights. So, yet another attention starved celeb blowing a minor thing into 15 more minutes. Fuckin' twitter! stfu

Why don't the airlines just make bigger seats? confuse I mean people overall have gotten not only wider but taller over the years. I can't see Kevin or Shaq traveling comfortably on Southwest.

Dude booked two seats on his scheduled flight. Southwest didn't ask him to do that, he did it on his own. And don't tell me he just wanted personal space or privacy because he's a celebrity. If he wanted that, he'd have booked the whole row. Hell, he'd have flown an airline with a first class.

No, the dude is fat and really has no reason to complain about this. Mix in a salad.

No it isn't. If he's too fat to fit in one seat, then he's got to buy two seats (which is what he normally does). He doesn't have the right for his fatness to spill over into my seat and ruin my comfort.

Uhhhh, money. Bigger seats, mean fewer passengers on a plane, so that ain't happening, especially in this economy. Shaq has several planes of his own so commercial ain't an option. Besides, leg room vs. wider seats are two different issues IMO.

To me, the response shouldn't be airlines need bigger seats cuz this is just another example that WE need to stop blaming everyone else for not accommodating our fat asses and get serious about losing weight and getting healthy.

This pic is 2 years old and when I saw him here in Dallas last January he was bigger than this and I think he's gained even more weight since. Ain't no way that armrest went down "comfortably" rolleyes talk to the hand

^^ Ahhh but what about extremely tall people without NBA income or people who are fat for genetic reasons? I don't give a fly's cock about Kevin Smith but there is such a thing as reasonable accommodation. I've flown Southwest many times and they really could use a makeover. Wouldn't happier customers continue to eat into the competion and yeild more profit? Also Southwest has been in the black since the 70s so it's not like they can't make some concessions here and there and still make money.

I agree about the leg room thing cuz I've heard stories of folks getting blood clots and dying on long flights due to lack of leg room. But no company is gonna give up some of their profits when customers are flying under current conditions. It's all about maximizing capacity and profits. If comfort is important to you, don't fly SW, but overwhelming people are gonna sacrifice comfort for savings. So there's no incentive for SW to provide more room at their own financial loss. shrug

I'm glad every person here (taking shots at this guy because of his weight) is physically perfect because I can tell you from where I sit, on the inside you are all Fugly.

As a person who has battled with my weight most of my life, it's a constant challenge. Whatever his reason is for gaining more weight (emotional, not giving a shit, whatever) doesn't give anybody the right to make fun of him.

If you disagree, post your picture and let us all make fun of your physical appearance.

I'm not making fun of him, I'm criticizing him for the way he handled this situation.

He knows he's big, too big to fit in a seat, so that's why he always books two seats on Southwest. Then one time he has to fly standby and only gets one seat, and then bitches because the airline followed policy.

I get that it's embarrassing but he's said his weight is his fault (too much dope-generated munchies), so I don't have any sympathy for him in this situation.

rolleyes Please save the righteous indignation cuz ain't nobody said anything about being perfect. I clearly said that WE all need to get serious about losing weight and getting healthy. HE chose to make his weight a public issue so why you mad at us for discussing it? If you can look at him and think he's healthy OR choose to ignore the fact that he's gotten huge in a short amount of time, that's your business.

But, I don't have to appease you or anyone else's weight sensitivities cuz that's part of the fucking problem regarding why obesity is an epidemic. Even Mrs. Obama is being criticized for her efforts in trying to get our kids to think about their diet and exercise habits.

I don't think it's healthy and have no problem saying so and getting a few chuckles while I'm at it. He makes fun of his weight, so why can't I, especially in this situation??? Rather than engaging in a public battle with SW for exercising their policy which he knew, his wide ass may be better served by pushing away from the keyboard, putting down the weed, and EXERCISING.
