Old Movie Buffs

11:00 Central Time / TCM (cable)

Katherine Hepburn & Rossano Brazzi

"Summertime" (1955) * * * *

Katherine stars as an American tourist who finds love in Venice. I haven't seen this movie in 30 years pre-cable... they never play it, until now! One of her best performances and I'm not a Ms. Hepburn fan. Excellent movie.

IIRC, this film was directed by David Lean. It's fabulous.

A bit of trivia: in the scene in which Hepburn is taking photos and falls into the canal, she got a terrible infection in her eye from the canal water.

I should have said 11:00 pm ... it would've helped. My husband is recording this movie for me can't wait till I return home to view.

Ironic isn't? She had no nor the crew had any issues during her filming of the African Queen.

LOVE. THIS. MOVIE.

One of my all time favorites from the old-timey genre...and it really captures the spirit of what it feels like to be wandering around Venice, whether you're in love or not wink

This one's much better!

Or at least for girls, maybe...because of the impossible romance angle and all...
