'The Soloist' Starring Robert Downey Jr & Jamie Foxx. WOW.

I searched the ORg 4 any discussion on this movie, and couldn't find any.

So who has seen it? Thoughts?

Jamie Foxx out does his performance as Ray Charles in this movie. He is unreal... like a skilled method actor.

Robert Downey Jr is great as well, of course, but Jamie Foxx was mesmerizing in his portrayal.

Oh! You just reminded me-I started watching it last Friday on Demand.

I have to finish watching it. It's pretty good so far.

Ray Charles?
In that movie he was "homeless violinist" Nathaniel Ayers.

I had seen the real Steve Lopez & Ayers on "60 minutes" before the film came out.
I watched the movie a couple of weeks ago and then looked up the "60 minutes" piece on YouTube and watched it again.

I was very moved by the story.

I apologize... I just re-read the OP. I now see that it said "outdoes" his Ray Charles. Sorry... boxed

apology edit

I can't watch anything w/ Jamie Foxx in it. He's so fucking arrogant. That's why you never see him and Alicia Keys in the same place. Not enough room for their egos. They are each other's doppelganger.

I really enjoyed it even though I do not really like Robert Downey Jr

I would not say it was a "great" movie though

Yeah I know, but if you didn't watch that movie based on your impression of Foxx(which I agree with) chances are, you'll never step into a theatre or rent a movie,,,,ever again lol because lets face it,,,,,

I won't ever watch a Foxx movie, if I can help it. I watched Ray and Dreamgirls, and that was it (that I recall). He's not in every movie. He's not exactly the black Hector Elizondo. After those two, his ego got SO massive, it stunk to high heaven. Yeah, you have to have a bit of an ego to be in that business, but shit....that boy has mastered it. He makes Prince look like a monk. He's a fucking clown.
