My favorite object of pretentiousness is the PETA folks.

blogging as a form of self expression..in all its forms...this should include twitter and constant, minute by minute facebook status updates...it's cool to express yourself and let folks know what's going on on your life...but for the most part, nobody gives a fuck...

The teacher I co-teach with 6th period.
He's such a pain in the ass!

He talks down to the kids, using SAT words and then telling him he doesn't dumb down his vocabulary for anybody when they don't get what he's saying. I spend most of the period playing "Eugene-to-English Dictionary" for the kids.

On Friday, he told the kids he went to the concert of a "cute little rock band" with his brother in 1975, but walked out after a 1/2 hour because they were too loud and full of smoked out stoners. He said he caught the subway up to the MET and heard Leontyne Price for the 1st time. He called it the 1st "real music" he ever experienced. The band was the Rolling Stones.

I can think of a few other words besides "pretentious".

to add....
talking about "real music". singers aren't musicians and all that garbage. especially when they don't play a damn instrument themselves. just listen to what you want to listen to and enjoy it with those who do.

...always trying to have or copy what others have, trying to be in the "cool" group. especially by kissing thier ass or licking their snatch. (co-workers take note)

...people who think everyone else is stupid or don't get it just because they believe one way and not the other.
