What are you reading right now?

What are you reading right now? I gave up reading Bill Bryson's 'Notes from a small island'. I've not read any of his others but I found this boring and repetitive. I've just started 'The Turnaround' by George Pelecanos. He's always very good and one of the writers on The Wire.

What are you reading?

Right now, I'm reading the words I am typing in this box.

But seriously, I am reading "No Ordinary Time, Franklin & Eleanor Roosevelt: The Home Front In World War II". So far, it's a very good read.

I've been trying to get around to finishing this

Got this for Christmas, but haven't really read it at all

And a friend bought me this as a going away present...even though I ended up not going anywhere.

last book is a lot of words, it's a bit heavier going as in secret police backstory, but once it gets going it's just as pacey as the other 2

yeah the Dan Brown one was not too exciting, but I only have 20 pages left. I like Jonathan Gash, but lost interest in this one, so I might just take your advice.

Actually I had it sitting around but hadn't read it yet, but on your recommendation I gave it to Allison, and she liked it a lot. She was all prepared initially to not take my suggestion, but I said the title, and she said "that's the book I was just looking for at the store!"

you might need to make a diagram of characters and their relationships, there are a lot of names in it and they are swedish and kind of hard to remember, even for me redface

since i haven't been working, and a new avalon book came out. i reread the entire series in the order they happen in the universe it's set in and not the order they were printed in, so i'm just now rereading the last one which was really the first. Mists of Avalon.

looking back, I think I should have done that, watching the movies has made it easier for me to remember who is who dead

it's also because I'm completely ignorant of roles in the police and governing bodies - like chief of police, chief police detective or whatever
that confuses me boxed

Allison didn't mention that, but I'll keep it in mind. Of course, she had been reading Anna Karenina before that, so maybe this one's comparatively easy to keep track of.

Very good book. I read it quite a while back, well before the movie was ever talked about.

Another recommendation is Janet Fitch's White Oleander. It was made into a movie w/ Michelle Pfeiffer, and a host of others. It very closely follows the book too.

Fingersmith - Sarah Waters - very interesting little story. I highly recommend it.

I just finished Push by Sapphire. Very hard to read. Extremely emotional.
