Ditto! That would be the day I trust a man with birth control!

I had a vasectomy. So i can fire away and won't kill nothin biggrin . I shoot for practice now, not to kill wink

Years ago I used to babysit for a family who had a few kids. After their last child was born, they agreed that the husband would get a vasectomy.

One evening when I arrived to sit for them, the wife informed me the hubby had just had the vasectomy done the day before and he wouldn't be going out with her that night as planned because his balls swelled up all huge after the operation so he was staying home in bed instead.

My boyfriend at the time had come with me to babysit that night, and at one point during the evening the husband (who I never really had had much interaction with before) came out to get something from the kitchen, and then, standing there in the kitchen all bowlegged and in a little robe, proceeded to give my boyfriend a big long detailed man-to-man lecture about how he (my boyfriend) should never EVER agree to a vasectomy. I know it was mean of me, but I found the whole situation *really* amusing, and the expression on my boyfriend's face was priceless

So after scaring the hell out of my boyfriend, the husband shuffled/waddled off back to his bedroom again to ice his balls some more.

I can never hear the word 'vasectomy' without remembering this incident.

It's a much, much simpler and pain-free surgery now--they use laser and don't even really cut anything. It's a breeze, especially compared with tubal ligation (getting a woman's tubes tied).

I dunno...the dr. my friends boyfriend went to still got cut. He got it done 2 weeks ago. They made 4 small incisions where the tubes are, cut them, pulled out the "connector" and then stuck them back in different ways so they wouldn't find each other again. Needless to say he wasn't walking very well the next few days! We were watching tv and there was some dirt bike racing thing on and he was in pain just watching it!

Because women are the ones who actually carry the pregnancy, ultimately we will always be the ones who have to watch out for ourselves. Dunno that I trust anyone else to take care of that issue for me, actually! smile Our sexual partners should chip in on the expense of it, though, cause that can add up and they're getting benefits from the birth control too! smile

I definitely agree that the man shoudl pay half of the birth control costs. It can be pretty expensive at times.

Rhondab

You should be responsible for yourself. If you personally don't want a child then you need to prevent pregnancy from happening.

They must not have used laser (too bad for him). A vasectomy is still a better (easier) surgery than a tubal ligation, though.

Unless you fully trust the man, its the woman's responsibility. The woman is the one who will carry the baby and give birth to it.

In a perfect world, both partners would share the responsibility. But it's not, and while the guy should be responsible, it's ultimately the woman's responsibility...

Man - When I use a condom, I can't feel it as much

Woman - If ya DON'T use it, you won't feel ANYTHING (except maybe yourself later razz )

Now that is being "responsible". smile

I knew two would be enough for me to raise with a decent life. As soon as i had a boy and a girl i had the surgury the next month. One thing about the surgury, there is nothing scarier than seeing the doctor down there and SMOKE coming from your NUTZ! nod

LMAO lol
