Wow! My use of Photoshop would probably be just to make silly stuff.

I'm okay with photoshopping a person's skin a bit smoother, but making someone thinner seems a little more insulting somehow.

But magazines covers present an illusion, not reality. I am okay with that to some extent.

Very nice! (post some if you can, or the link when it's up!)

I've fallen in love with Illustrator and InDesign more than Photoshop though, I do declare. geek

I photoshopped a pic of my face to see what I would look like if I had a nose job, was skinnier and had fuller lips...a Heidi Montag makeover....but I really have no photoshop skills. lol

I use photoshop for a living, but I'm too impatient really to go to these extents eek

If I enhance a person, it's only to take away superficial and temporary blemishes, creases, marks from clothing, some of the darkness under eyes. I leave a person's permanent features in tact, since like someone above said, it's insulting! ALthough I admit I did contour a couple of girls on a CD cover because they wanted to look thinner confused but you could hardly tell in the end, it was subtle.

I do that, remove temporary blemishes if they're really prominent. I usually lighten faces a little too, to make them stand out. I remove fluff from dark clothing too. lol

people with freckles keep them, pimples I will remove nod redness I will tone down also, because when you look at a person in a photo, you notice these things, but when you see a person in real life, you don't notice those things as much as you notice a person's presence, vibrancy and charisma - so I fix those things to let the person shine through in a picture nod

A film photographer once stated that a photo isn't finished just because they've taken a snap shot. Once you've manipulated it, even subtly, then you can finally say it's complete. And photoshop can digitally make things prettier or uglier, and not just with people.

We like photoshop.

But people should know they are looking at art, not a snap shot. It's this lack of awareness that causes problems.

Yep, I'm not about to remove freckles or moles or anything like that. It's just too far from reality then and becomes absurd. Redness I remove quite a bit too, which you get a lot here from people sweating a lot in the heat, or sometimes I'll soften the light on faces and add a little colour back to them in pictures taken with flash. I nearly always remove the blue tinge from clothing and black hair too (that I get quite a bit of from my d40x). Things like that drive me nuts and I get quite obsessive about it. In general I don't make nearly as many alterations to the people in the photographs as I used to, compared to general image manipulation which I probably now do more of. I used to do it just because I could, with less discretion. Some pics I edited for friends I look back on now and they look awful, just so heavy-handed and fake. lol

p.s. A good example of what I might do is right now I'm sorting out some pics to upload to FB of a night out we had with my sis-in-law and her husband and some of our friends and I just softened a little bit of shaving rash on the guy's neck.
