to all my orger friends on FaceBook I'm gonna delete youse all
but! http://www.facebook.com/p...0683537184 add me! I need to separate my RL from virtual world ![]() My real life friends are so boring, I will probably phase out my real page and deactivate it in a couple of months, but would prefer to keep up with you all and talk shit as much as I want without worrying what my friends and family think - they are holding me back!!! ![]() and ![]() ![]() I wanted to write you all within FaceBook but it won't let me write to 122 people at once ![]()

OMG, me too.
I had to create a 'RL' alter account because most of my real life friends don't get you guys. Plus several are people I may meet again in the business world. It's not exactly conducive to business to have your org friends (and some IRL friends) chiming in on every status messages with talk of Satan and Anal sex.

OMG, I do that too, but I'm so clumsy at it. When I move friends from one list into another, I sometimes delete them by accident. But there's no way of knowing who I removed because facebook doesn't keep track. So I'll get an email saying "what the hell? Why did you delete me?" ![]() The other problem with defining friends lists is the status updates. You can get pretty granular with which groups can see what, but it's a little bit of a hassle. My primary use of those lists is to deny certain groups access to my videos, photo gallaries, or other content like that. The status messages is were it's tricky. The status messages are a bit trickier. Charlotte for example was placed in a group I called "IRL work friends" for some reason. Then she posted on the org that she couldn't post to my status messages--that's when I realized she was in the wrong group and that my IRL work friends couldn't post on my status messages either. ![]() I do appreciate that facebook allows me to get granular with access rights, but I find the 'alter account' is handy. Except for the fact that one of my IRL friends who is on my alter account posted some pictures I didn't want my former students to see (My former students have access to my IRL account). You can't win. ![]()

so you cant really separate people into groups with out shutting some people completely out? To make a thief, make an owner; to create crime, create laws.

If I'm moving you guys into more restricted groups, what if I'm moving IRL folks into ...erm... more permissive groups? I already had my ex girlfriend (from high school) and her mother drop me from facebook due to orger comments...and the fact that I'm so much more liberal now than I was when they knew me. ![]()

I had a friend drop me from myspace and block me on facebook because she's become a right-wing zealout and when Obama won, she thought it would be a good time to stop being my friend. i have been contemplating 'Facebook', and how, when one puts one's face to a book, one can't help but cease with the drunken anti-semi-cat-o-muslim ranting, and start playing a whole bunch of tiresome Flash games.
