Christopher Nolan is quickly becoming one of my favorites, now, of the younger generation. And Quentin Tarentino

Lucas is a poor director.

He directed the first Star Wars (but not 'Empire' or 'Jedi' and then he did direct prequels....

He did not direct any of the Indiana Jones

But then again he directed "American Graffiti"

I wouldn't put many of those as favorites, but that's still a very solid list of movies, some of which are classics.

What I like most about that list is that he is maybe known most for the futuristic sci-fi ones like Alien & Blade Runner, but then was able to do Thelma & Louise which was 180 degrees different in style--and just as good/acclaimed/successful.

I really like his work. Enemy of the State is sick.
Speaking of Will Smith, he has 25 movies in development.

I have the short as well, but I like the feature. The only thing I think that sucks about the revisionist CG version is the end where he puts in more explicit creatures. I think the other CG touches are fine. Much better than his Star Wars CG retouches! Outside of some good stuff in Empire with the Cloud City.

Probably why it generated strong feelings from critics & audience alike - sitting for 2 hours with every scene passing over their heads.

Mind you, I love movies that make the viewers "think", its exciting to me,,,,,but at least meet them 1/2 way, shit 1/4 is fine so they won't be completely lost, ya know? lol:

that's how I felt about David Lynch's Inland Empire. And I usually love his stuff, weird as it is. I couldn't make it through this one.

I think my favorite viewing experience of Lynch (outside of The Elephant Man) is Lost Highway in the theatre.

I loved Lost Highway. Even when I'm confused, it's interesting to watch. The issue with Inland Empire was not only that it was confusing, it was very harsh & unpleasant.

when they went back to the big rabbits for the third time or so I had to stop

Extended period of confusion ceases being interesting and becomes boring, as you say.

I think The Limits of Control was about a Liberal resistance fighting a Fascist organization. Bill Murray played a Fascist, no?

You might as well have skipped randomly from scene to scene. Maybe one combination would work.
