Looking for Fan Communities

Alright folks, I would appreciate your help!

I am looking for an online fan community, other than the org, with interesting members. Since the stereotype of a fan is an obsessed person that loves everything her/his object of interest does, I am curious about what other critical fan communities are out there. This site is full of critical minds, but it cannot be the only fan community of that sort, can it??

I can't seem to find any confused

lol hug It's not like I want to leave this place or even join another community. But I do want to know if the org really is one of a kind in this area or if there are tough critiques on other communities?

I would say other sites are more critical because it is not balanced with the genuine, welcoming, and often forgiving side of the org.

Actually, I hadn't thought of that. They're very sweet over there. Too sweet for my taste. nod

Prince has a large enough fanbase that attracts different types of individuals, so this is actually a decent place to just find about what people in general think about stuff. Once you go into more specialized areas of intereste - marginal music etc. - then the crowd is going to be more homogeneous. Nevertheless, the "Prince" -aspect of this site keeps the most closeminded individuals away (and people aren't usually prudes here either), which I don't think anyone on this site are too interested to discuss with. The religion aspect might throw especially some Europeans off, though.

I see far bigger clashes on other sites that I visit. These days if I end up in argument here, I just leave the entire thread if it's starting to look like the other person isn't interested in anything else than arguing for some nonsense cause.
[edit- oh you meant PRINCE fan communities, not fan communities in general - silly me]

Thanks for your comments. I have to add though that I am not interested in the relationships between fans and how fans talk to each other, but their attitude towards their "idol" or Tv-show etc. This community is full of people that criticize Prince and would never be expected to be typical fans. Now I am asking if there are other fans (of musicians, actors, Tv-shows etc), that are as critical towards their object of inetrest as we are here? Do, let's say, fans of Duran Duran complain about how the guys look, their love life, their new music, the things they do and don't do? I want to find an online community where these sentiments are expressed.

George Michael's fans were very critical of him so he shut the forums down on his site. I do not know if he has since opened them back up. I would venture to guess that most sites don't allow the type of criticism of the person the site is dedicated to like this one. And then you have okayplayer which criticizes everyone and is way more flamey than the org is.
