When I eat pizza, I either go to a local pizzeria or I make one myself. I agree with you on the frozen pizza thing. DiGorno's pizza is delicious. It's your fault! I went to Costco Sunday and the lady was cooking up samples of the DiGiorno cheese pizza and I remembered your comment. I took a sample, and it actually wasn't bad. People were lining up to get those samples like there was no tomorrow. I picked a box of the supreme and asked the sample lady if it was any good. She said it was very good. I told her if I bought it and didn't like it I was going to bring it back. Costco will take back anything you bought there as long as you have the receipt. Went home and popped one in the oven (baked it on a pizza stone), and it wasn't bad! I mean, it doesn't compare to authentic NJ or NY pizza, but it will do in a pinch. Oh, I did spice it up a little with some additional herbs. I've tried other frozen brands. That "Mystic" pizza was funking awful! Gave me terrible gas.

Yeah, I used to do that quite a lot, but their pizza is too soggy for me. Plus it's relatively bland, IMO.

BUT. it brought back memories when I read one of the reviews and the guy said, "It's not pizza, it's a tomato pie." That's what we used to call them in Jersey, at least in South Jersey. I live in Union County. I never heard that expression. I grew up in Florence/Roebling, which is about 10 miles south of Trenton, so I guess it's not really south, south Jersey, more central. Anyway, that's what we used to call it "back in the day."

Being in NY, with a pizzeria on every corner, there really is no need to buy national-brand pizza. THAT BEING SAID; my kids LOVE Domino's.
I don't know why. I used to like Pizza Hut as a kid (too greasy for me now). When we do order from a chain (so easy to order & pay on-line...even track your delivery!) I prefer Papa Johns. However, since Domino's just revised their ingredients, I don't mind them as much. (Before it tasted like cheese-covered cardboard to me.) Locally, there's a pizzeria by my parent's place (Alfredo's of Westbury) that is like crack for me. Every time I'm in the area I stop in for a slice! We had a Casey's in my hometown. I HATED their pizza. I'm in NYC now, so my favorite places are little, local shops. When I lived in Chicago, I never got all the hype about Gino's -- I thought it was gross. The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

There was a show on either the Food Network or Travel channel about the best pizza in the country. They did taste tests in NY, Chicago and San Francisco with fire fighters. Of course the Chicago firemen voted for their home-town and NY did likewise. San Francisco voted 9-2 for NY! I prefer NY. I can't see eating half a pound of dough with pizza.
