Real Life compared to your Org personality

The question begs to be asked - how much are you similar in real life compared to how you are on the Org. A lot of folks here are rather hard core in their approach to answering things (present company included). It's not that people are trying to be rude necessarily, it's just a cut and dry sort of approach. It works online sometimes...most times. But are any of us that way in real life when dealing with folks.

Example: If we're in a store, and browsing Prince CDs for anything new or unusual, and some person next to use says, "I like Prince back in the 80's, but what should I buy next?" Online, we'd say "Just go through the catalog in order and cover it all." But in person, would we say that, or just pick up something like Lovesexy, or The Gold Experience, or Emancipation, or The Black Album, and say "Start with this...."?

So...are you as hard, or gentle, in person as you are on the Org?

I’m basically the same. Perhaps a bit more animated in person. And at the same time, a bit more shy.

I think you could ask anyone I’ve met and they’d say close to the same.

You are pretty much the same. Except I think I read you better here since I do know you. If that makes sense.

We'll see about that when I get your ass on the phone. (I've not forgotten that...I just had company all of a sudden, and things got side tracked.)

thinking about it... I'd say I'm a lot more outrageous/explicit/funny in real life. I edit myself here a lot, because I don't really know who I'm talking to, can't really see them or gauge reactions or present my tone.

I'm pretty much the same in real life as I am here. Sometimes I think I might be a just more honest and open here. You can't see me blush.

To answer my own question: I think I'm close in real life to what I am on the org. I'm usually quick w/ an answer. Although I try to be short about it, there are probably times it comes out that way. The biggest problem online is that we can't really emote without the use of "lol" or some emoticon to convey that we're joking opposed to being a bitch (or for the guys, a brotch). My response to people when they don't like my answer is, "Listen, you asked me a question, I gave you an answer." LOL I'm usually jovial in real life, and in a good mood 99% of the time. I take most things w/ a grain of salt. I am also up for a good debate a lot of times. That doesn't mean I want to argue and bitch about something, it's just a debate. Pick a side and let's go at it. Some have accused me of being a "know it all". It's far from that. If I believe in something, I'm going to defend that to the Nth degree. Whether the other person buys into it and changes their opinion is irrelevant to me. If they do great, if not, so what. What's that old saying about "Believe in something, or fall for anything".

I'm actually a bit more reserved on here than in offline life.

I was banned from another site (local club and DJ scene site) that I used to frequent - and the people on that site were people I knew personally - so I learned my lesson to bite my tongue.

Dude, I used to hold NOTHING back. There was a time on that site when there were no mods and it was awesome...but then they added mods and a bunch of us kept getting into trouble and getting suspended...we all just gave up after a while. lol

When it comes to Prince I don't expect people to know 1/2 of what I know, then I come to p.org and learn from cats like you E. I'm pretty much spot on with my responses on the org and sometimes I take with me what some people say here as being a little too hardcore in their responses. I keep with the point of view that perhaps I should take what a lot of people say as tongue-in-cheek (on the org).
