Also a good free media player for FLAC files is Songbird.

http://flac.org/flac.htm#decoder should give you all the info and links to the free downloads.

Best to keep your files in FLAC format....sound is much better (IMO) than mp3

find and download the flac pluging, and use winamp or foobar to play the file by double clicking or dragging and dropping the files into winamp or foobar

you can also get a flac plugin for nero that will let you burn flac files to audio cds to play in the car

or use something like media monkey to convert on the fly to mp3 whilst synching to your ipad that won't play native flac files
