Donnie Simpson's morning show is one of the few I could bear to listen to when my commute was longer. It's sad to hear that he's going, especially since it's not really under the best circumstances sad
If you will, so will I

I read in the Post this morning that the station also fired his production assistant because he played a Prince song requested by Donny who had not come in to work that particular day. It also said that several stars called him to wish him farewell. Well, you know who DIDN'T call! Damn shame since Donny was one of his most avid supporters.

I wish I had gone down to Ben's Chili Bowl yesterday afternoon. Donny bought erybody lunch!

Had Prince's back! When was the last time Prince was a guest on Donnie's show? Yea, exactly. Prince turned his back on Donnie like everybody else, as long as they are not JWs.

I used to listen to Donnie's show until the music just got unbearable. I haven't listened for like 3 years. Sorry to see him go. But the bottom line is that he and the stations management could not come to a contract extension agreement in addition to management wanting Donnie to change his playlist format to conform with the flavor of the week mentality that has brought Urban Radio to its knees over the past ten to fifteen years years.

But Donnie did not "always" have "Prince's back". He was just as critical of P as a lot of other morning jocks. Donnie slammed "Dolphin" in addition to most of the rest of the Gold Experience album when it came out. The only thing he would play is "The Most Beautiful Girl.." and "I Hate You". More recently he played the entire 3121 album on the radio virtually uninterrupted on the day of release. Fans may think this was cool but be sure it cut into extra sales P may have gotten. So Donnie may have respected Prince for being old school and just staying in the business for as long as he has but Donnie was more of a Jimmy Jam/Terry Lewis/Morris Day homer than he was a Prince supporter.

He absolutely has Prince's back. Your acting like Prince should do whatever you think he should do. I will not speculate. No idea what goes on behind closed doors.....don't care if he did or not really anyways but last time I checked it wasn't the law you had to list everyone you talk to in a day.

Actually Prince did an interview on Donnie's show around 2004. Clearly he was firmly entrenched in the JW's in 2004, but he did do Donnie's show.
