It may be legit, but you may not need it. I have been lifting for two years without using any supplements (even creatine) and I am pretty well cut. Just work hard and keep at it. Lifting twice a week and taking weeks off at a time will not work.

That´s exactly what some buff guys do...they only train one muscle once a week and sometimes take a week long break for recovery.
What is your workout routine? I train at least three days a week.

I lift 5 times a week. I work each muscle group once a week, but I occasionally get a second ab/obl workout in.

Here is what I do:
Day 1: Delts and Traps
Day 2: Chest and Back
Day 3: Off (cardio)
Day 4: Biceps and Triceps
Day 5: Abs/Obl
Day 6: Legs
Day 7: Off

Looks like a smart plan to me. Especially since you have a day off between the chest and back training and the biceps and triceps day. Most people don´t realize that they train their biceps and triceps, too when they train their chest and back.

I overtrained a lot in the past and now I see that sometimes, less is more. At least when it comes to ONE muscle group. However, you´re right that it´s good to do more and split it.

That guy from the Last Dragon, that movie with Vanity....he is a martial arts expert and also works out, and he said that overtraining is just a myth but I disagree. Then again, sometimes I see benefits in training a bit more for a short phase.
