But couldn't you say that about TV in general (maybe the news excluded), not just the Super Bowl? Not saying I agree with the ad, but if it's allowable on TV, I don't get why the Super Bowl should be any more off limits than airing it during re-runs of Friends or something. [Edited 1/26/10 14:45pm] Co-sign. Haven't there been political ads in a SuperBowl? I don't know. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

I don't wanna see ads on either side, for or against. Quite frankly, abortion is a very personal reproductive issue (and a surgical procedure) to a woman and need not be advertised like teeth whitening or popeye's chicken. True dat. And what proof is there other than anecdotal that it was effective? You could say a good game encourages abstinence and prevented x number of pregnancies . . . But because people aren't trying to hear it during the SuperBowl, they're getting more coverage now . . . . I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

In the past, networks have gone so far as to state that this isn't the appropriate forum but of course the ads they rejected in the past were apparently from "left leaning" organizations including a church that was welcoming to gays. But NOW it's all good.

hmm...it's a 30 second ad. I mean really I don't understand all the fuss. They paid for the 30 seconds...they should get to have their ad.
realistically it's not gonna ruin anyone's "party" the other side of the issue should buy an ad too. I don't think CBS should have denied that church one either. "not a fan" yeah...ok

Six years ago a church that welcomed gays and had other liberal views was denied the opportunity to buy an add on CBS so they are obviously selective about which political/moral messages they choose to broadcast.

I do not know why people are making like this is political thing. it is a PR thing. CBS and NFL have the call. If you do not like their choice, then you can protest. Knock yourself out. Obviously, they can do what the fuck they want and people are protesting. But don't hide behind this "it's our policy not to broadcast certain types of contentious advocacy ads" bullshit, when it's a message you don't like. Be consistent or have the balls to come out and say your network is anti-gay and anti-abortion. Regardless, I still don't think any kind of ad like this is appropriate on Super Sunday. I mean if you really don't like the ad just go take a piss during it..or better yet be a real rebel and boycott the superbowl "not a fan" yeah...ok

Good luck stories make for bad social policy and law. For every football star that people point to as the salvation of humanity and woe is me, how mann other saviors were aborted..... Nobody ever mentions the hitlers and mansons we are spared from.
That woman had the right to choose but this is propaganda plain and simple. As for the super bowl, I will be boycotting it cuz I could give a crap less about sports! 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

...and if this cat ever gets caught with a ho(like Tiger), forget it. The same media that's kissing his ass(one sports announcer said we should be blessed to know someone like Tim Tebow) will eat him alive. Ain't he sposed to be a virgin? Yes. He confirmed it during a media session early last college football season. And then went on to comment on why and explain his beliefs. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
