Wait, sorry...that didn't come out right....what I meant to say is that many artists/djs/producers that make beats or even use samples are also well versed in playing actual instruments. They are also really good at song structure and melodies, and so on and so on.

If you think artists that do this are lesser artists in some way, guess you really dislike all of prince's "casio keyboard beats" work too.

Having personally worked in and having family in the music biz, and having a degree in recording engineering/music production I have come to understand that talent comes in many different forms....even if it's a genre I do not personally like.

Also, I don't really get the whole, they were good before but suck now stuff...just because of Fergie? She just sings the stuff that will.i.am writes for her. Other than their stupid lyrics and the blatant ripping off ideas and beats from other artists, some of their tracks are not too bad (or portions of their tracks, music wise that is). But then again some are just horrible, water-downed versions though too.

But I'll never, ever understand why gaining commercial success automatically makes someone suddenly suck or a sell out to so many people.

I have their first album, Behind the Front from 1998. I LOVED that album and I LOVED the group. And now? I guess if you want more zeros in the bank account you get a meth head white chick that hold a tune and looks good to sell records.

Just aren't the same BEP. Not like Jams and Joints....wow...I just totally was taken back to college. When they were college campus artists. They had Macy Gray on their records too. I guess they got too brand new for her too.
