no, I couldn't...more than anything, they would piss me off...
I'm just a middle class motherfucker and I'm not trying to put up any fronts that I'm anything but...I don't have any real friends that spend excessively but I know some folks that live and die by designer brands and other expensive things... I like pricey things too...but I'm doing just fine with my spending habits and I have really nice things...which are tailored for me not as a show for somebody else...and I'm not swimming in debt, like the spendy folks I know... this has been a problem for me throughout my adult life! i'm really not into wasting money on stuff i don't need to be. and where i live now most all the woman like to go and buy, buy, buy all name brand expensive items! not that i don't like any brand name or nice things, but i bargain hunt for mine and always find them on clearance, i have never paid full price. and these snobs just hate that i do that.

If we can both shop TOGETHER, I don't care where she shops. If we can eat together and enjoy each other's company then its cool.
But if she starts criticizing stuff I buy because "I'm a fool for buying it"... or "I would never shop at a place that sells cheap shit like the stuff you just bought" ... I would rather shop alone. I am not rich but I will buy at a boughie boutique or shop at a discount store. As long as I like it... I don't care where its from or what it costs either way. I never look at labels or shop for something just because it's designer. Heck, I'll shop at the Versace or Armani store then go to Marshall's or Old Navy the same day. A sale is a sale!

Right here! I do. | |

Clothing-wise, I fit a 2X. A lot of regular shops here (Zara, H&M, Banana Republic) don't even stock clothes for me.

Ex-Moderator | If "shopping" is an activity to hang out together, then it's no problem. I go "shopping" all the time and don't come home with anything.
But if either of you expects it to be super productive, then it's probably not gonna work. Often when friends and I go to the mall together, we part ways once inside to hit our preferred stores on our own and meet up later. How we lived before cell phones, I don't know. Most of my friends and I have fairly similar spending habits. I've definitely got friends who splurge more and friends who clip coupons more, but we're not SO far off that it makes social settings difficult. |

OMG, I totally HATE to shop with other people most of the time, unless it's in a book store.
We all shop at our own pace, and mine is to research the item I want, rush in (after having formulated the most direct route and taking note of fire escape and shit), buy the item, and get the hell out of the store. The only places I'm known to slow down is book stores, record shops, or Home Depot.

i know how that feels, i would love to buy something in H&M, but they don't carry my size! They will have S, M, L, XL, but not XXL Happens all the time. Anyways, that was my subliminal co-sign for Old Navy.

"shopping" as a social event is extremely low on my list
Shopping overall for anything is NOT something I really enjoy What and how another person chooses to spend their money really is of little interest to me so ...

I don't go shopping as a recreational activity very often. Pretty much only when I'm traveling, and even then, I don't usually buy much these days. But on those rare occasions, I really don't care what the other people buy. "What's 'non-sequitur' mean? Do I look it up in a Fag-to-English dictionary?"

I love love love bookstores, I will spend all day in them if you let me, and if I'm with somebody who has a lot of money and can buy a bunch of books and I can't, I will be secretly burning with jealousy and hating the unfairness of life. Yep I can't shop with people who linger. I am on a mission at every store I go to. I don't even try on clothes or shoes because I know my sizes and I just want to get the hell out of there.

My best friend and I are tech junkies and can spend hours in the store.
