When your computer finally kicks the bucket...
What do you do with the hard drive on those PCs?
Or do you just put it out with the rubbish hoping
nobody's clever enough to grab the info/pics?


Doing drive formatting isn't going to remove the data.
You'd have to degauss it. Therefor, the information
is always susceptible to being recovered if a person
is determined enough to do it.

And if your compter crashes your only real option
is to bring it to a data recovery company
to grab the info....but that exposes the stuff
on your drive to them , right?


I guess, I've been thinking about it, because it is
so easy to recover supposed 'deleted' or 'lost' data.
But then I got to thinking...well, how would I
remove the data for good? It's not like I can
preemptively degauss my drive before it unexpectedly
crashes.


What do you do with your old PC's hard drive?

Funny how data can always be recovered from your hard drive unless it's something you really need. Then those files are gone forever.

Its going to be interesting in bout 10 to 15 years when people start running for public office and half way through the campaign nude/drunk pics from facebook, hard drives, and sexting start making the media rounds.

To be honest, I'd hope the old one is so horribly fucked at this point that only some black box data geniuses could get anything on it to work. I mean, looking inside it the last time I couldn't imagine that anything would work, all corroded and nasty as it is. Maybe I should just go in there and break a few things.

i smashed my old pc that i had from back before i got married. i smashed it so hard nothing could be found! it was such a cleansing experience!

I only save porno pics as well as video samples temporarily. I burn them onto DVDs see I can see them really good on the TV, then I delete them from my computer. I've heard that someone can always find out what you've been looking at even if you have deleted it. Well, I could care less because if folks don't know by now that I like dicks, then they are a damn fool.
