One of the head directors here at the Uni apparently
thinks I have good presentation skills and now
I'm going to be a special 'commentator' on some
English speaking show geared towards University/high school
learners of English.

Apparently my segment is on pop culture and I'll
be doing commentaries and synopses on movies, books, etc.




ERM.... ERM..... I hate being in front of the camera. HATE IT.


Swear to gawd, if one of the blokes in downtown Bangkok says,
"I recognize that dude from the night at the gay bar when the
go-go boys had buttsex to Paula Abdule...I think I'll notify
the Dean." I will just throw in the towel.

I'd have to take some Valiums or something before I get up there. I used to almost freak out in speech class. One time they filmed it. I thought I was gonna die when they played it back to use as a critiquing method. Good luck though.

I have no problems with giving speeches nor presentations no matter how large the audience. But, I really don't like being filmed. It's like "evidence" of my faults, psychical and professional.

Hey, don´t fret, it´s all good. And don´t worry too much about your hair.Be glad you still have hair to complain about, some folks lose their hair very early.

And pop culture, showbiz, movies and books are really your thing, so the job is perfect for you. You are also an interesting person for them, being an American of partly Thai descent. That´s great. Look at it as a big opportunity.

I have no stage fright whatsoever and could spontaneously do whatever is necessary in front of a camera or on stage so maybe I can´t really say that I know what you feel like...just focus on the positive things, you´re a great writer (except for the typos) and sharp analyst of pop culture.





Just be careful with your spelling though...make sure you don´t have to write anything as long as they´re filming you, or else you´ll have a lot to explain.
The buttsex with the go go boys should be okay I guess.

Stylistically, "while" instead of "as long as" would have been the better option, now that I think of it but I was speaking on the phone while typing.

Anyway, just find a good excuse not to write if they ask you to write something while they´re filming you.Don´t hand in anything in written form.

And remember, Phil didn´t know how to spell "master´s degree" either....but that´s off topic.

There have been some Turks from Germany in Turkish showbiz who contributed a lot to the entertainment world, like for instance Tarkan or Rafet El Roman, so maybe you´ll revolutionize the Thai entertainment world. I´m serious.

I was on tv once..the worst experience of my life. I was with my friends at the International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary on the premiere of Antichrist and this young woman with some camera-dude stopped me and she started to ask me some questions about that movie.. It was unexpected and I was acting like some fool

But I'd never do it in a million years. I once left a Prince party cause people were snapping pictures all over and someone was filming everything and I can't take being on camera, period. I was SO mad.
