I've lived in California most of my life so I know how scary that can be. I don't think I could take being in a high rise during an earthquake. Eeek. I think Yellow Stone is overdue. Actually, they experienced a bunch in January! JACKSON, Wyo. - Yellowstone National Park earthquake researchers say a series of more than 1,800 small temblors that have rattled the park for nearly a month are dwindling. The earthquake swarm began Jan. 17 near West Yellowstone, Mont. Robert Smith, a University of Utah professor of geophysics and coordinating scientist for the Yellowstone Volcano Observatory, says it's the largest swarm since a 1985 series that lasted three months. The latest swarm is clustered in a region about six miles long and is focused about five miles below the surface of the earth. It's included nearly a dozen earthquakes that were magnitude 3 or larger. Smith says he doesn't think the quakes have stopped altogether, but he says activity has diminished to the point where researchers are no longer filing daily swarm reports. http://www.kfbb.com/news/...25312.html Anyway, they're settling down now...thank goodness .. OMG! All the destruction. Oh the humanity. Will Hollywood come out in force and have a special telethon for the suffering citizens of Northern Illinois? Will there be a Hope for Huntley concert?
I live about 40 miles from the epicenter of the quake, which occurred at 4:00 am. I slept through the whole thing.

I was up when it happened. 4AM I think. I didn't know wtf was happening. I was calm about it, thinking it was our washer/dryer on the fritz. When it messes up, I can feel the house shaking a bit. The boom boom sound I heard sounded just like the washer when it thrashes about. I put two and two together when I saw my door moving, my cd case, my desk, and montior moving....
I kinda just sat there in my moving chair like "hmmm, earthquake. Cool."

Many places in North America have them every so often. Normally the are not noticed. (a 3 is about like a truck driving by)
We have had several close to where I live, I have felt two of them but at the time I assumed it was a train. "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!"
