My nephew was hit by a car this morning!!!! UPDATE PIC why are people so stupid??!!
he's gonna be okay.. why am i putting this here?? for the reason behind it...  his face..
he has staples in the back of his head also.. lots of road rash.. because the driver was(alledgedly) going faster than he should have been considering there are 35mph signs posted on the road at this point.. so the students walkin to school can cross the street at the crosswalk.. and the luck behind it.. behind the car that struck him was a cop.. and this high school is no stranger to losing children this way..it's a bad stretch of road that many people pay no attention to the students, and it is also a crossing for a middle school right up the road he's gonna be okay.. but until then he has to suffer... 
why can't people slow down.....?

I believe you live in Tampa? Less than a mile from my house?
Tampa is considered one of the more dangerous cities in the USA for pedestrians. And Snowbird season always makes it worse (if you're inside the city) or near MacDill AFB. I've been hit 5 times in the rear of my car--all but one was broad daylight. All of them...every single one... claimed that they didn't see me (In other words, they did NOT SEE THE CAR IN FRONT OF THEM).  | |

my friend and her baby were struck by a car a couple months ago right after dropping her other son off at school. the baby fell out of her arms, had a minor head injury, but is doing fine. the driver wasn't speeding, but she wasn't paying attention either. she said she didn't see her until she hit her.

i just do not understand why they cant slow down.. he's a kid.. crossing where he's SUPPOSED to.. i actually live closer to Brandon High school.. where a 14 year old was killed when hit by a car as HE was crossing the road in front of the school in a crosswalk..that was a few years ago..the MEMORIAL for him is there now instead of a child goin to school i'm sorry but these f**kin idiots that drive in their own world!!!! ''my car has no brakes!! i couldn't stop cuz my car has no brakes!!''

Great case of a cop actually being there when you need him/her.
I'm so sorry he was hurt and so glad it was not more serious! I  he has a speedy and complete recovery!

Some drivers are dim wits. I've seen a few do illegal U turns and others speeding through a 30 Km school zone.

Here in Toronto, 10 pedestrians have been hit and killed by vehicles in the past eight days! Everyone from a young mother pushing her baby in a stroller through the crosswalk to a senior citizen casually crossing the street with a bag of groceries. And late last year, we also had a student get mowed down on the way to school by a car. In all but a couple of cases, I believe, negligent motorists were at fault. Drivers need to realize they aren't commandeering magic carpets that delicately scoot them along from point A to B, but steel machines that weigh thousands of pounds and easily can kill lots of people. OMG!!!! I am soooo glad he's ok. What happened to the person who hit him???
One of my best friends (only 26) transferred from her job in Madison, WI back to Chicago. She wasn't here for more than a month when a drunk driver hit her and her two kids crossing the road. She was killed instantly as well as her 6 year old son. Her 4 year old daughter survived but is practically a vegetable.

that is awful and so sad. I hope your nephew is okay and recovers quickly. those wounds are terrible. lots of people drive too fast in general i think and especially in bad weather. many people are in a hurry to go nowhere it seems. jeez.  | |

My God... Such a handsome young man. There's a crossing at my old school that's in a similar fashion. They've JUST started putting up the different timed crossing posts and what have you. Before then, well, accidents happened. I am so sorry this happened to him and I pray he will recover with no major permanent injuries. Lots of love, lots of light and many prayers.
I really, HONESTLY cannot stand drivers who feel the need to ignore speed limits around school zones. How hard is it to slow down and obey traffic laws to save lives? Some people just don't care.... Thank God he did survive. | |

i have always taught my son that just because a walkway has the green light, or is a zebra crossing, you still have to check...because some arseholes are too busy looking for a park than where they are going 
Our local shopping centre is terrible for cars not stopping i always acknowledge drivers when they stop for me when they have to, because not all drivers do...(turn left with care/give way to pedestrians) seems that i was busy doing something close to nothing, but different than the day before   | |
