As for some comments that it is not original or creative - there are plenty of fics based on original ideas that are fantastic - it all depends on what you like, I guess.

Yes, there is the plagarism aspect, but the writers aren't trying to play this off as their own idea, just their take on the original idea and most take pains to disclaim any credit that belongs to the original writer, producer, owner etc.
