My grandbabies are moving to Germany! Today my eldest Christina told me her hubby Cody received orders and now they are moving to Germany in June. I am happy and sad about this move for them. Happy because my daughter and grandbabies will get to experience another country, sad because my sweet grandbabies and my daughter won't be here with me any longer. I know it's her family and she needs to live her life, but my heart is hurting. I have never been away from my daughter, she has always lived less then 30 mins from me. I knew this day would come, but it doesn't hurt any less.
So...do I have any fellow orgers who live near Germany? Any orgers who have had to deal with their kids moving across an ocean from them? Proud Memaw to Seyhan Olivia Christine ,Zoey Cirilo Jaylee & Ellie Abigail Lillian

Don't marry into the military!
Now that I got that off my chest, I hope there will be many visits in your future! 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Oh, Moni!
I'm happy for Christina, but... "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"

I'm happy for Christina, but... I am happy for her too. It's a chance to do things and see things that she has always wanted to do. I just hate the idea of my Seyhan and Zoey so far from me. Proud Memaw to Seyhan Olivia Christine ,Zoey Cirilo Jaylee & Ellie Abigail Lillian

Right after we had our daughter my husband got shipped out to germany... She was only 2 months old when her and I finally got to go be with him... My parents were heartbroken also... My mom was VERY attached to her first grandbaby.. It will be hard but she has such an exciting time ahead for her! We got to come back and visit while my hubby was in the field! So you will see her and just think, you will hae somewhere to stay when you go to visit! ~~~~~ Oh that voice...incredible....there should be a musical instrument called George Michael... ~~~~~

There aren´t that many American military bases left here in Germany. Most of them are in the beautiful south (nice landscape but the culture is not my thing, I love the north). Be glad it´s Germany, they could have been deployed to far worse places.
Come over and visit them (and me) here in Germany. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

So...do I have any fellow orgers who live near Germany? Any orgers who have had to deal with their kids moving across an ocean from them? You're quite lucky that you have skype these days. When I moved to Germany the only way to contact the states why by way of very expensive phone calls or to call from a Germany base over to an American base nearby a residence and have the base "switch" the call over to a local number nearby (and you were only allowed a 10 minute 'free' call that way). Now with skype you can talk for as long as you want, and all bases are wired with fast Internet. I would look at this as an opportunity to visit one of my very favorite countries on the cheap, Moni. At good times, you can find a roundtrip flight to stuttgart or Frankfurt from Dallas for $550 sometimes (not often, but sometimes). And your son will be given the option of a free round-trip ticket once a year (if he's Air Force--not sure about the other branches), which cuts down on the expenses of visiting. Also, Germany is a much safer place to raise a family than the USA, so you can rest easy knowing they should be o.k. It doesn't get rid of the anxiety and pain of being separated, but I would say it makes it much easier with technology today.

If you don't mind me asking, how did your Mom handle things? I feel like I am going to lose my mind. Christina & I have never really been apart except for the 30 mins in her adult life. She has been by my side since I was 15. Then not to mention not seeing my grandgirls as often as I do now. Proud Memaw to Seyhan Olivia Christine ,Zoey Cirilo Jaylee & Ellie Abigail Lillian

Thanks Julie! It does suck. I have been trying real hard not to get to upset, but not easy. But I have decided I just need to be strong and enjoy my kids while they are still here because June is going to come faster then I want. Just get down on your knees and kiss the ground and thank your higher power that their father isn't being sent to Afghanastan or Iraq.
I'm sorry the babies are leaving though. Now you have an excuse to travel!
