I think someone was on crack for voting for that. There is no way in hell that movie is better than The Hurt Locker.

I think it won because of the way it "looks".

I was so happy for Monique. She totally deserved it. Amy Poehler looked great. Avatar was not the best movie necessarily but its an awe inspiring visual masterpiece.

You're absolutely right. It does not have a great screenplay or nor was it particularly well-acted... it was a very well-crafted special effects piece.

I didn't read a single positive review on it. Most critics said it was just "okay". No one I know who saw it has been recommending it.

Monique looked gorgeous. The best I've ever seen her. I'm glad she acknowledged victims of abuse in her acceptance speech. I think people forget that she was a victim of child molestation.

I'm so proud of her She handled herself eloquently. She deserved the award for her role in "Precious." I liked the dress she wore.
[Edited 1/18/10 8:19am]

She did well for the press room after receiving the award as well. I got a little irritated at the reporter from E! trying to throw shade and take the movie subject out of context to create a scandal/celebrity gossip headline. I was happy she checked him disbelief

Okay, that picture of Mo'nique makes me wanna barf. She should give back her award. biggrin

Ivy, I half agree with you about Avatar. The Hurt Locker should have beaten it, and even Cameron said so.

But I loved Avatar. While the story itself is nothing special, it is lifted by the animation and special effects, both of which set a significant new standard in movie-making, in my opinion.

straight up try-flin!! and usually I'm all for a woman not wanting to shave...when you aint got no man that is.

Mo deserved that award for Precious. Any actor/actress that makes me want to kill them simply because of their portrayal of a fictional character is infinitely talented.
