I'm curious as to why the United States still hasn't converted to Celsius Temperature Measurement like, oh I don't know, The Entire Rest Of The World? Really nothing could be easier to understand. Here's a primer:

- 40 degrees Celsius is really fucking cold!

- 30 degrees Celsius is very cold!

- 20 degrees Celsius is an average cold Winter day.

- 10 degrees Celsius is a pleasant Winter day.

0 degrees Celsius is when water freezes.

+ 10 degrees Celsius is a coolish Spring or Fall day.

+ 20 degrees Celsius is a warm Summer day.

+ 30 degrees Celsius is a hot Summer day.

+ 40 degrees Celsius is really fucking hot!

+100 degrees Celsius is when water boils.

What could be easier? Canada changed to Celsius in the mid-Seventies and by the mid-Eighties only old farts were still saying "What's that in Fahrenheit?" All you have to do is think of what the temperature feels like and experience it.

'Celsius is for commies' seems to be the most common response i hear.

Well, first of all, your scale is upside down. If that's what a celsius thermometer looks like no wonder no one here wants to adopt it.

Wouldn't it be easier for international pilots to have a universal measurement for the weather? Or do American Air Traffic Controllers already use Celsius?

Also, 0 is when water freezes and 30 is a hot summer day? So pretty much all your weather has to squeeze in between 0 and 30? That's craziness! In the U.S., we get lots more numbers! We're all about temperature freedom here.

I just started the temperatures off in the minus range because it's winter where I am in Canada, and I guess I was thinking of the cold first. Celsius thermometers have hot at the top and cold at the bottom of course.

On a serious note, in general I agree that the metric system makes infinitely more sense in most cases. But at the same time, I have a soft spot for old traditions being kept alive.

In a more serious response to the question, I see Fahrenheit and Celsius temps given side by side all the time. We're sticking with the Fahrenheit, but we're not totally out of touch with the Celsius scale.

lawd, I have been studying like crazy and can testify that celsius is still 5/9 (fahrenheit -32) and that a converter app is a good thing!

The speedometer in my car has indications for both miles per hour and celsius.

Because we're used to Fahrenheit.
