Describe your 'Org-posting' environment Whenever I read a person's posts, I have a little picture in my mind of the person sitting at their computer posting their messages. My image of the person and the room that they're sitting in when they post is probably completely wrong. So, can everybody describe the location of their main Org-posting computer. If most of your posts are created while you're at work, then describe the office/room that you're posting in. Likewise, if most of your posts are created at home, then describe your home.
As for me; My house is a Victorian semi-detached house here in the market town of Shrewsbury in the UK. The computer is in the back bedroom. If I look to my left, through the window, I can see about 6 different back gardens - mowed lawns, flower beds, greenhouses and sheds, etc. The room I'm in has lilac walls, green curtains and skirting, a double bed and a computer set-up with which I'm posting the start of this thread. My partner is currently asleep in the front bedroom and I'm just winding down before joining him for a good night's sleep. So, in order for me and other Orgers to make a realistic picture of where you are when you post, describe your current/usual location for your visits to the Org.

Hmmm...
Currently I am in the living room on the laptop... the surroundings in here... the television, a couch, recliner and MY BIG chair... and two kids and a cat. Other times I am in the bedroom on the computer... there is a bed and the normal bedroom stuff. Other times, but not often anymore I am upstairs on the computer in a tiny, tiny room with pretty much just the computer. It's too cold up there right now, so I've been hanging out down here.

Haystack, I love your threads
My computer is in my bedroom. I always sit on the floor and my monitor is about a meter away from me. I live on the 2nd floor of a block of flats, in a village. My room is an organised shit heap!! And is not decorated to my taste as yet... I have a window to my right, have a double bed that I lean up against. Fuck me, I feel ashamed... I sooo need to sort my bedroom, no, my flat out... its such a pile of poop!!!

Ex-Moderator | I generally post from home (usually I'm waaayy too busy at work ) on my iMac which sits on an antique dressing table that I've converted into a desk. Also on the table is a fuzzy orange lamp, a retro-y ashtray from Las Vegas (but not for long!) and usually a glass of water. To my right is a window that looks out onto the street in front of my apartment building. To my left is my walk-in closet. |

I think a lot of people visualize other posters the same way, on message boards, newsgroups, sites, etc. Or at least the way they look. So, can everybody describe the location of their main Org-posting computer. If most of your posts are created while you're at work, then describe the office/room that you're posting in. Likewise, if most of your posts are created at home, then describe your home.
Wouldn't be prudent. [This message was edited Wed Jan 15 21:26:21 PST 2003 by Supernova] This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

Usually I'm just on my laptop, connected to the net wirelessly from my living room, sitting on my favourite armchair.
However my laptop is getting repaired at the moment so at the moment I'm in the spare room using my desktop PC. Very officey - a proper office desk, a swivel office chair etc. Surrounded by lots of technical books, diagrams, printouts and music CDs. Computer is a nice 19" Sun monitor, connected to a sleek aluminium tower case PC sitting on the floor. It sounds like a hovercraft coz of all the fans keeping it cool. My flat (rented) is a top-floor (fifth) place, quite spacious, in these ancient 100 year old tenement buildings that were converted to flats, in the west end of Dundee city (in Scotland). It's very quiet, and rather windy outside. I have a nice view over the river Tay and over the city too.

Ok..if I am not posting from work..and simple office it is I am at my puter in the family room..My puter desk sits in a corner wall against two walls on desk encyclopedia's and books on. In front of me across the hallway is the stairway a stand with one of them lights you barely touch and it gives you like 4 different lightnings I usually have it on low..I always have a candle on and. Now, to my right is the front room, couch, chairs, table with pics..TV, stand with flowers and on the wall a big mirror and the other wall a big picture of the world globe/map (so I can see where everybody is at) very nice pic stereo with surround sound BOSE that connects to TV and stereo. I have a treadmill behind me that so I can see through a window that goes to the kitchen. UPstairs bedrooms and bathrooms and thats all. I am at work, constantly trying to hide that obnoxious purple screen that just screams THIS GUY AIN'T WORKING!
I do not have a computer at home. How tragic.

I plug a USB cable into my nose and the org reads my thoughts. Sometimes I hook it up to the wireless unit so the org can read my thoughts while I'm at lunch.

That avatar is just too cute, my friend. I'm in between the kitchen and dining room, across from the basement door. If I look to my right, I can see out the kitchen window. To my left, I look out the dining room window, and I see plants. Which reminds me, I need to go water my bamboo! -------
A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti... "I've just had an apostrophe!" "I think you mean an epiphany..."

I'm usually at work when I'm posting (like now) and I have a small, corner office on the fifth floor of the building I work in.
I've got an 'L'-shaped desk that has one of my printers, scanner and monitor on one side and on the other is a set of overhead cupboards and a papers, disks, various office supplies, pens, various media (brochures, newsletters, letterhead, business cards, press releases) that I have created. Yes, it's a mess, but I know where everything is. I'm an abstract organizer
