I've yet to hear about this. In fact, Leno's people have been revamping his show to make it more appealing, because his audience was dwindling fast. Frankly, I think late night shows are just dumb. They're overrated and outdated. Leno might have been #1, but what were those numbers? Who's up at 11:30 to watch anything live, opposed to DVRing something for later?

If I were Conan, I'd jump ship from NBC, IF they're putting Leno back on The Tonight Show. Fuck that....promote then demote? I'd say bye bye to that. Get on cable and do something new and funny. Why can't Showtime have a live show once a week like that? Let him be as dirty as he might want to be on cable.

Eh, we'll see.

When I was driving home before, I heard on news radio that they are talking about canceling Leno's show. They said it might not come back after the Winter Olympics.

Leno may be the only thing rated lower than lotusflow3r.com.

BTW, there's zero talk anywhere of Leno getting the 11:30 slot back. You have some inside info?

I forgot to add that Prince will be back on Leno when he needs the show to promote something. He ain't dropping by for shits and giggles most times.

Hmmm. TMZ isn't exactly a trustworthy source, but it IS known the NBC held talks today with Leno and Conan.

If TMZ is correct, they must have had a source IN the meeting to get the story that quickly.

What's really odd is the Leno is the poison factor here. He's the one with the lowest rated show on TV. Why reward him for that?

There's no source listed, or any official press release attached. I'll believe it when NBC says so.

We just learned that beginning February 1, 2010, Jay Leno will be taking back his old 11:30pm time slot on NBC.

This is what Jay’s been hoping for all along as his 10pm show has not done well, and audiences don’t seem to be bonding with Conan’s Tonight Show.

What’s unclear at this point is what will happen to Conan O’Brien. Will Jay’s 11:30pm show be short, followed by Conan? Or will Conan be ousted altogether and Jay will resume his original Tonight Show duties? More details to come.

TMZ reports that Jay and Conan have both been informed of the change.

What do you guys think? Happy to see Jay coming back or are you rooting for Conan to stay where he is? – Dr.FB

That's not exactly a 2nd source, that's just parroting what TMZ started.

It's funny, I hate Jay and I love Conan, but I have watched more Jay lately because Conan is just too late for me. I figured that Jay's show would do well for it's earlier time slot. He basically has no [talk show] competition at 10.

Conan deserves better than this though, it's only been 6 months or so. Give him a chance.

I think I'd be pissed if I were Conan... and I may go do a Letterman.

Does anyone know if his ratings are any better than Jay's? And what are Jimmy Fallon's (ill) ratings like?

Yea, it's all pouring out now, but it all links back to TMZ. That tweet story links to the nj.com story that links to TMZ.

I know everyone Pisses on TMZ but honestly they seem to know whats really going down first and fast. They have become more accurate than most "real" media.

Personally I think everyone should be watching her.

As a function of clip licensing at Disney, I work with Leno's clearance person, Steve Kozak and he confirmed it this morning. No word on Conan's plans or whether the half hour format would work. Unfortunately, TMZ becomes more legitimized as a news source every day.

More is coming out...

Update: NBC Plans Leno at 11:30, Conan at 12
By BILL CARTER

Pressed by affiliates and shrinking ratings, NBC has a plan in the works to radically alter its late-night television lineup, restoring Jay Leno to his old spot at 11:35 each weeknight, while pushing the man who replaced him, Conan O’Brien, to a starting time of 12:05 a.m.

NBC executives held extensive discussions with both Mr. Leno and Mr. O’Brien Thursday about the future of the network’s late-night lineup.

And while NBC officially said no final decision on the plan has been made, two senior NBC executives who have talked to NBC’s top management about the moves said that under the plan being discussed Mr. Leno would definitely shift back to 11:35 but in a half-hour format, while Mr. O’Brien would slide back his start time by a half hour and then produce an hour-long show.

“We remain committed to keeping Conan O’Brien on NBC,” the network said in a statement Thursday evening. “He is a valued part of our late-night line-up, as he has been for more than 16 years and is one of the most respected entertainers on television.”

The third NBC late-night star, Jimmy Fallon, would then begin his show at 1:05 a.m., the executives said. The revised lineup would go into effect after NBC concludes its coverage of the Winter Olympics on February 28. NBC will pre-empt both its prime-time and late-night lineup for more than two weeks to cover the Olympics, creating a natural break in which to implement the late-night changes.

I wonder if the problem is not Conan's bad ratings so much as NBC losing out in the 10 pm slot. That's when networks usually have high profile dramas

If conan is going to go 12-1, he musty have decent late night ratings, but be losing to dave in the beginning

He's pretty much been in the #1 spot every night when he had The Tonight Show. Letterman's people were happy when he left, because it was the first time Letterman was #1 in years. He might still be over Conan (which oddly took Letterman's old show ages ago). I think he should have just left TV if he was leaving The Tonight Show.

If the story is real, and it appears it might be....watch for the gossip tabs to run WILD with "I hate Jay - says Conan", etc etc type stories. It'll be something to see.

I thought Conan fit perfect on the Late show, but I thought that he was a bit under experienced to be host of the Tonight Show just yet.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.
