With high hopes and expectations, eight new roommates come to our nation's capital for the 23rd season of The Real World, each pursuing their own passions and goals whether it be music or photography, political cartooning, or campaigning for Human Rights -- while enjoying DC's exuberant and diverse nightlife. Swept up in the excitement of the new administration to serve and impact change, the roommates experience their own personal growth and life changes: a small town Texas girl realizes her dream; the jokester of the house has to get serious when it comes to love; a dysfunctional romance threatens to divide the house; and a young man learns that coming out is not only a personal choice but a political one as well.

I used to love TRW back in the day. But, now that I'm grandpa, I don't think I could take five minutes of twentysomething drama. lol

Seriously, I almost got my hopes up when I heard of this season's location. D.C. is the optimal place to show a bunch of black professionals doing their thing without resorting to tired stereotypes. That cast is a disappointment.

You're probably right. I'm just thinking... DC, first black president, progressive network... do something new. They'll have their tense moments, regardless, thanks to editing.

Just tired of seeing my reality ignored in TV World. It's partly why I rarely watch it these days. rolleyes

remember this is the same station that wouldn't play anything they didn't would appear to their white midddle american audience in the beginning. No Michael Jackson, No Prince, No Madonna in the first few years of the network.

There's WAY too many black folks in ATL and the "D". The casting call alone would just scare the hell outta MTV lol . It's a shame that after 20 yrs. of RW, they are STILL doing the "token" black cast member thing....Hell at least in the early days they would have more than one....what's more disturbing is...why the hell am I still watchin this shit. lol

HA! I was just thinking the same thing. I see the thread, and open it, foolishly thinking maybe I'll recognize someone.

Sure didn't see anyone like that when I was kickin' it at State of the Union on U St back in the '90s!
