Its Australia, what do you expect, but is it really that offensive, no one loses their call and maybe that chicken in a full, hot ass stadium with warm beer at marked up ass prices is welcome, if I see some white dude offering me Fried Chicken, I am going to take that shit regardless of my race. Yes in NZ and Australia, we have fries with our KFC, best and most fattening part of the meal, my weakness. Did notice on the American site, u guys don't have fries but things like potato bake pie and stuff etc. So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time | |

Absolutely great commercial...
Racist..no way! poor guy is stuck in the oppositions area, and all he wants to do is enjoy the cricket in peace...pulls out the KFC it is one in a series of ads, others include the guy having a family bucket for the in-laws..(so he can watch the cricket on the tele), giving his blabberring flatmates a KFC wrap so he can watch the cricket in peace and quiet, and taking a small stool, and security hat, jumping the boundry and giving the security guard there some KFC...better seat!! KFC sponsor the cricket here in Australia, commercials are aimed at australian cricket fan(atic)s Its about an awkward situation....not surviving '"awkward" black ppl' quoting youtube http://www.youtube.com/wa...ftZt-Dw_hQ great ads but im still not buying it KFC [Edited 1/7/10 0:20am] seems that i was busy doing something close to nothing, but different than the day before | |

It is not racist and has been taken out of context.
You need to see the full series of ads to appreciate the background of this one. There is intense rivalry between the two teams and the team's supporters. KFC is offered by one supporter to quiten down the chanting of the rival's supportor - nothing else is meant by the ad or implied. Everybody chill out The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart.

Kentucky Fried Chicken (that's right, I still call it that) used to have the best french fries ever. They fried that shit in the chicken grease. I miss those crinkly bitches. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot. | |

--- AN ad by KFC Australia showing a man giving fried chicken to West Indies fans has been labelled racist in the US. In the "cricket survival guide" ad, an Australian fan named Mick asks viewers "Need a tip when you're stuck in an awkward situation?" after being surrounded by cheering West Indies fans. He then shares a bucket of KFC chicken with fans around him to calm the situation. Is this ad racist? Tell us below. The video has caused a huge stir in the US after it was posted on YouTube. The ad has been seen by some in the US as a reference to racial stereotype that African Americans eat fried chicken. User "ThunderCurls" posted the ad on the video sharing website with the title "Racist KFC advertisement?" The description states "How do you survive a crowd of "awkward" black people? According to KFCs latest advertisement a bucket of fried chicken will do the trick". The video has caused a lot of debate, attracting more than 200,000 views and 2000 comments. KFC Australia has acknowledged that the ad could be perceived as racist. It said the ad had been "misinterpreted by a segment of people in the US" in a statement released this morning. "It is a light-hearted reference to the West Indian cricket team," KFC said. "The ad was reproduced online in the US without KFC's permission, where we are told a culturally-based stereotype exists, leading to the incorrect assertion of racism. "We unequivocally condemn discrimination of any type and have a proud history as one of the world's leading employers for diversity." Media commentary sites in the US blasted the ad, claiming that the ad supported stereotypes, according to The Huffington Post. On Mediabistro, Kiran Aditham writes of the ad: "Here, a flustered white guy gets out of an "awkward situation" - which in this case appears to mean being stuck in a crowd of happy, cheering black people at a sporting event - by ordering in fried chicken." Meanwhile Buzzfeed's Jack Shephard introduced the video by saying, "What's a white guy to do when he awkwardly finds himself in a crowd full of black folks? KFC has the answer". "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world." | |

Oh, hell yeah, those fries were something else. They also had that cole slaw that people were addicted to like it was crack. | |
