Woken up by Jehovahs this morning

So I was woken up about an hour ago by a knock at the door. No idea why it woke me up because I would normally sleep through a hailstorm but anyway I sluggishly ran downstairs, found the keys and opened the door.

To this:

And you know the funny thing?

The two ladies saw my bedhead and cringed! They thought I was going to start screaming at them.

Instead I took their little pamphlet thingo and told them not to worry when they apologise, wished them a good day and closed the door, off to make a coffee.

Did I wake up on the right side of the bed or what? lol

a jehovahs(two women), tried to a pick fight(argument) with me. They asked me if i knew about the bible, and i said, i did but i don't read it cause i'm not christian. they then said, how about your parents, i said they read it cause their catholics. then they started to say that the bible is being corrupted. then i told them, that i didn't want to talk about this. then they told me that the internet was full of pornography! i was like..okay.. then i closed the door, they left and haven't been back.

They would ALWAYS hit my house at 9am on a Sunday. I worked 12am to 6am Sunday mornings. The dog would bark and bark until I got up to answer the door. I told him listen, 9am is like coming to my door at 4am. I work third shift, could you please stop ringing my door at this time?

Never came to my door again.

I rather enjoy their company.

I invited a JW couple in a few months ago, and they come by roughly every other week for a study session. We agree on some things, disagree on others, but they've never been rude to me or gone places that I can't handle... and, yep, I do get to speak. They even bought me a Tazo Chai Latte from Starbucks once. smile

Just my personal experience. shrug

You are lovely. mushy

I have had good experiences as well and I consider UHope to be a very dear friend of mine. We've had great conversations about everything under the sun.

The place where I fall out with Witnesses is their belief that theirs is the one true faith.

Where we're moving, Jehovah Witness can never walk up to my front door or gain access and that's fine by me. In late years some of it's members have come to my door being beligerent. Amazing to me, you've knocked on my door, to tell me, "Thats your problem.....". It got to point where we had to put a note on our door daring these people to ring our door bell.

I've come very close to cussin' them out on several occasions. I try not to cuss and it takes a lot to get me angry or even "go there".

I have no problems with JWs either, or their views, but they do seriously need to reconsider their issues with knocking on people's doors. Got folk hiding in their own house behind the couch and shit. Not really conducive to spreading the word of Jesus when folk see you coming up the driveway and start cocking rifles and all. Otherwise to go to a scheduled Bible Study, I don't have a problem with that, but I have to be in the mood.

I hear ya.

JWs follow an interpretation of Luke 10:1-7 that they believe calls them in pairs to door-to-door ministry. I'd say their reading calls for some debate (perhaps especially given the last part of verse 7), but I know where they're coming from.

That aside, I do wonder if folk don't dig their "approach" really because folk don't dig the challenge of (or see some benefit in) their message. I mean, if they came weekly to briefly talk about the weather and hand off a free $20 bill no one would have a problem being interrupted by the knock on the door. Heck, some of us would even be waiting on the front steps with lemonade! lol

In the past when I've not wanted to talk, I've simply said no thanks... and they go away.

lol I know what you mean. I answered the door one Thursday afternoon and an older couple was there witnessing. I didn't have the heart to be rude, so I gave them a $5.00 donation. So from now on, every other Thursday at 2:00 PM, I can be found behind the couch. shhh

Mine too ( close enough ) ~ they come about once a month - we talk and listen to one another ... not only about the bible

I've known these people for 18-ish yrs ... they are always welcome in my home and don't seem to mind my Pagan ways so
