Actually, being that I loathe American idol, I couldn't tell you the names of any of the contestants (or winners) of the show other than David Cook, Danny Noriega, and now Adam Lambert.

And the only reason I know of Adam Lambert is that he's a controversial figure. And the only reason he's controversial is that he's gay and proud of it--how ridiculous is that? lol

It wasn't like the guy had a 'costume' malfunction lol, but even if he did--the venue and the timeslot should alert parents to keep an eye on what their children are watching.

other a few kelly clarkson and blake... something, i have no idol stuff. i hate that show.

this kid, though, actually has some chops. his cd actually has a few great songs. i deleted a bunch off, but there are 3 gems.

These conservatives have helped to extend Mr. Lambert's 15 minutes of fame past its welcome---- Sanjaya weeps. lol

I think what people found most offensive was the crotch sniffing. Yeah I know Madonna the skank did it first etc etc... but still for primetime TV it is yuck and needs to be on a porn channel. Only strippers, hookers and porn workers would want that stuff on primetime.
Kids can't have a say in this stuff ... that is why the age of consent in America is 18 yrs.

a) the age of consent is not 18
b) Bowie did it first, not Madonna
c) That hardly qualifies as porn. I saw the performance. You see more hardcore sex on daytime tv commercials.

well, tell ya what, pickles... you keep fighting the good fight to replace all gay sexuality with lil' purple cross-dressing midgets in heels, and we'll continue to support you in your noble endeavors.

[Edited 1/10/10 20:06pm]

Huh?
I am not fighting gay sexuality... I am fighting pornography in general, it shouldn't be on during primetime hours. Yes I monitor what my child watches. We have had to turn off the TV several times when we felt it was too much lewdness for her age. We run a very strict household, that is how my husband and myself were raised and that is how I want to raise my child. When it is time and she is ready we prefer to explain to her about the birds and the bees and we don't want an "Adam Lambert" or anyone else doing our job for us. Get it now? I am sure most conservative American families feel the same way as I do.

We're not talking about porn. And even if we were, it wasn't on during primetime.

your posts really reflect an intelligence and wit rarely found outside of kindergarten, madam.

clearly, you should be the one deciding what is right for the rest of society, what with the incredible levels of maturity and common sense you bring to the world.

we should all aspire to be you.

bravo.

I only care about my family.. not about anyone else. I care about what comes into my home through the TV.

So shut the TV off, for fuck's sake. Problem solved.

That does seem to be the accepted double standard around these parts nod
Every man that wears makeup except Prince is gay. Every man that acts feminine except Prince is gay. And because Prince has supposedly boned numerous females, he himself cannot possibly be gay. lol

some of Prince's fans are the absolute worst thing about him.

Being a Prince fan is a lot like being a Backstreet Boys fan in some ways. It's not liking the performer that's embarassing, it's being associated with the nutbar fanbase that is.

I do not know why people are so offended by what he did. It is shocking and that is what 'rock' music is supposed to do. I would not let my kids (if I had any) watch any live music show like that, as I would assume/expect/be miffed if there wasn't something like that.

But I do not like the use of past examples of 'bad' behavior to justify current 'bad' behavior. We would soon find ourselves in a situation where all one needed to do to get away with something would be to give an example of when someone else did something simular and nothing happened.

All I can say is not everybody watches MTV and Bravo. Perhaps many of us are thinking with "cable" minds in that we see so much racy stuff on cable television that we've become desensitized and don't realize that there is a large conservative group out there that doesn't see things like Lambert's performance on the regular and are not accustomed to seeing face in crotch or two dudes making out. I believe shows like Family Guy and Southpark are either restricted to cable television or are at least shown on late night network television. It's not fair to dog out those people who voiced their opinions. Who knows, maybe some of those people are writing because of the reaction they got from their kids. shrug Anyway, to each his own. I just feel sorry for Adam because I'm sure he thought it was no big deal in the beginning and probably thought that his performance was the kind of performance people were expecting from him. He's got image builders out there telling him what he can and can't do. Guess they got it wrong this time. neutral
