TV shows and their UGLY first Seasons/ Episodes Have you all noticed that shows that last more than a few years have a drastic look from their first episodes to their latter? Even as drastic as using entirely different sets or - for me- the lighting. typically for sitcoms the first seasons tend to be "low lit" compared to latter episodes.
sorry i been watching tv all day- getting over the flu

Yeah, I'm always like "I use to watch this show!?" when I go back and watch a beloved tv series from the begining, whether they're replaying it on tv or i buy the series on dvd. [Edited 1/9/10 18:24pm] 12/05/2011

I've noticed that. Everybody has boring clothes and bad or average makeup/hair. Networks don't give out big money budgets to new shows. I graduated bitches!!! 12-19-09

The first few episodes of Seinfelfd look dim and depressing. Kramer was also more creepy rather than being a hipster dufus.

First season of Red Dwarf it looks like everything was just ordinary everyday things painted grey to look sci-fi and gritty army issue like beer cans painted grey, cardboard boxes painted grey

The pilot episode of Living Single was shot at the same studio they shot Family Matters.
So, the `1st episode, all the girls lived in a house. 2nd Episode on, they magically live in a Brownstone in Brooklyn. I know they do that with the majority of sitcoms. Look at the "house" in the 1st episode of the Cosby Show. It's completely different from what it looked like in every other episode. Then of course, there's that famous line where Cliff asks Clair "Why do we have four children"? and she replys, "Because we didn't want five". Then all of a sudden, Sondra pops up. I know they added her, because Bill Cosby later on wanted to have an older daughter in college. The Huxtables had 4 girls in a boy, just like Bill and Camille did in real life. JERKIN' EVERYTHING IN SIGHT!!!!!

The pilot of Buffy The Vampire Slayer looks for the most part like it was shot in the dark.

yeah who would have thought. Friends is is one of my favorite shows. but i find the first season and a half barely watchable.
i dont know i wonder why they let some shows pass and other shows die after a few episodes. i know it comes down to ratings but im pretty sure some shows need a couple seasons to get it together

Have you seen the original Star Trek pilot "the Cage"? No Captain Kirk!
it had Captain Pike (who I have been told is in the "Star Trek" movie) and Spock but no Kirk. "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!"

The first season of "A Different World" was the worst. Corny jokes, lame lines and boring ass Lisa Bonet. It's a wonder the show wasn't cancelled. I cringe the first season, after she left and Debbie Allen took over as producer, that's when the show got a whole new makeover for the better. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

And you're right. The Simpsons were edgier back then. I only have the first two seasons. Over the last 20 years technology has advanced so much that there is no excuse for it to look like it first did. Wow..I'm still tripping on 20 years!
