Let's talk college football: Hook 'em, HORNS!!! On the Road to a Championship

Since my last thread is mysteriously locked, here's a new one to discuss my 'Horns as they roll toward the championship. dancing jig

AUSTIN, Texas (AP)—A wrecking ball of a runner, Cody Johnson has been the short-yardage specialist for No. 2 Texas for the last two seasons.

It’s when he bounces that squat little body to the outside for touchdowns that he gives the Longhorns an extra dimension in their late-season march toward the goals of winning Big 12 and national championships.

Johnson scored Texas’ first two touchdowns Saturday in a 35-3 win over Central Florida, a team that ranks among fourth in the NCAA against the run.

Texas is 9-0 for just the ninth time in 117 years of playing football and the first since 2005 when the Longhorns went 13-0 and won the national championship. woot!

But the BCS ain't about shit tho! pissed

So how are your college teams doing?

I think they get locked after a certain amount of time, and lack of activity...

Well, Rutgers in 1-2 in the Big East...(6-2). They didn't play last weekend- next game is Thursday night. But the week before against UConn was intense! Rutgers pulled it off with :33 left on the clock! (28-24) dancing jig

I normally always cheer for an SEC team if they reach the championship game...but probably not this year...I think Florida wil beat Alabama in the SEC title game and go on to face Texas in the NC game....

so, in the spirit....Hook 'em Horns!!!

fuck Florida...and I hope Brandon Spikes gets a taste of his own eye gouging medicine somewhere along the way....

and I truly hope Colt wins the Heisman as well...

as for my team, the Dawgs are disaml....our coaching is less than pathetic...neutral

It just seemed odd cuz both threads had recent posts then the Reply button went away and when I asked a mod about it they seemed unsure as to the specific reason why.

It's no longer a mystery NOW. My point was that there was recent activity I didn't know a thread could become closed even with recent posts. Dang.

SMU is actually tied for first in Conference USA - West! We're at 4-1, tied with Houston. Houston beat us though, so we have to go 3-0 and they have to go 2-1 for us to win the division.

You cannot BELIEVE how long a road this has been.

Dawgs biggest problem Matthew Stafford and Knowshown Moreno
left for the NFL. I always root for an SEC team too but i don't
care for Florida or Tennessee. LSU is hurting now with qb Jordan
Jefferson sidelined and RB Charles Scott done for the season.
I felt his injury against Bama last week was the difference in the game.
The Longhorns are okay. I think they've benefitted from playing in
the Big 12 which is having a down year with Oklahoma battling injuries
everywhere. I want to see some off the wall shit this year with the BCS
crap with TCU or Boise State screwing it up but we know how the shit
works. One of those teams along with Oregon might be screwed out of BCS
game for a higher revenue team like USC. Thank god Notre Dame got beat
by Navy saturday. Don't have to watch those clowns play in a BCS game.

Florida will be champs again. bored Maybe Alabama. The SEC is just a superior conference...deal with it.

But Colt McCoy will look good in that Titans blue when they get rid of that sorry ass Vince Young. cool You better believe Bud Adams is already thinking about it.

I can, it's been a very, very long and winding road. I like the the run game a whole lot now. Shawnbrey McNeal transferring from the "U" and landing on the Hilltop is part of the reason, along with having a coach like June Jones the Mustangs are starting to get better recruits. Local talents are starting to talk about staying home and playing on the Hilltop. McNeal, a Dallas native attended Madison High. His success on the Hilltop could be the local recruitment magnet the Mustangs need, because too much talent from this area opt to go elsewhere to play football; rather than play football @ SMU.

I hate the "U" lost him, but I'm wishing him success with the Mustangs.

I hate watching Notre Dame football with a passion, I guess it goes back to my pre-teen years of having to watch them.. forcefully it seem. They were the only school that were truly independent back then, and now.. having there own television contract and all.

it's a lil' deeper than that...play calling on offense is consistantly inconsistant,,,,the defense is a joke...Willie Martinez (defensive coordinator) has to go...
UGA has enough talent to atleast be competitive...the talent needs some guidance and it's not getting it...

You're right about the defense. They gave up 37 points to South Carolina
and these cats are struggling to score two touchdowns a game now.

With TCU at 9-0, Frog Fever hits Fort Worth

http://www.dallasnews.com...060e5.html

FORT WORTH – In a city where the stock show often generates more buzz than college football, the TCU Horned Frogs have in the space of a week become Cowtown's biggest craze.

Fort Worth loves its Frogs, but that rarely translates into a full house at the 79-year-old Amon G. Carter Stadium. Just three weeks ago, coach Gary Patterson asked for more fan support for his undefeated team.

Now the fourth-ranked Frogs are awash in devotion from the purple-clad masses in Fort Worth, as well as ESPN, which is televising its College GameDay show from TCU. The sold-out game will air nationally on CBS College Sports.

"We've never had great crowds, but everybody has always been behind TCU and followed TCU," said Jungus Jordan, a City Council member.

The 1970 TCU graduate said the excitement generated by the Frogs in recent weeks is unlike anything he's seen.

Mayor Mike Moncrief declared Friday "Go Purple Day" and urged fans to don the Horned Frogs' signature color. But Friday's pregame buildup goes beyond just wardrobes.

The city's Avenue of Lights installation on Lancaster Avenue near downtown was scheduled to glow purple Friday night. The Chesapeake Energy headquarters and other downtown buildings planned to do the same.

It took 53 years for the Horned Frogs to climb this high in a national poll, and it took all season to generate this level of enthusiasm.

Despite a steady rise in the rankings this fall, TCU hadn't sold out a home game since playing Texas Tech University in 2006. This is only the third home sellout in recent decades. There were even seats available at last month's homecoming game despite TCU's No. 8 ranking at the time.

This week, every seat to today's 6:30 p.m. game was taken by Monday, and the university sold about 3,000 standing-room-only tickets. The crowd appears likely to break the university's record of 47,280 for a home game.

I don't know but i'm sure glad Stanford waxed that ass
today. I'm with you on Bama though. They have to get by
Florida though and they can't keep struggling on offense.
What's mind boggling is how Bama's offense waxed Virginia
Tech's usual good defense and there offense has been
struggling the last four games. I would really like to see
a dark horse team play for the title game cause i get tired
of seeing the same teams over and over i.e USC,Ohio State,Florida.

Colt doesn't have the arm for the next level. There are a couple of QB's ahead of Colt that have better arms, if he (Adams) wants a rookie QB next year.

..Sooner or Gator, Tennessee will need a QB.

I think the arm is there AND he's very mobile which I think is great even though he's not running as much this season. I believe he was the horns' leading rusher the last 2 seasons. He's finally relying more on his passing game. However, I haven't been able to watch him play in over a month cuz their games haven't been televised here so I don't know if he's developed any more. I'm impressed with his physical development in the last year. as well, but I definitely think he needs to wait til next year to come into the draft. Regardless, he'll get drafted based on his name alone, that's gotta be the best QB name ever! The pun possibilities are ENDLESS! lol
