They're not only highly intelligent. they also got a higher level of consciousness than certain human beings.

Readind the thread again, I just notice people getting outraged at dolphins flesh eating and why not going veggie and stuff. And complete disinterest for a slaughter which consists with making aphrodisiacs (for impotent guys) and cosmetics.

It got abolished only in international waters (from 200 to 350 miles behound the shores if my memory serves me so far, depends on the country...)

Huge whaling ships and mass production, they don't even bother sorting fish afterward so I wouldn't be surprised to find dolphin in canned tuna.

I had a dream last night that I was walking on the beach and a killer whale rode the wave onto the beach in an attempt to eat me.

Dolphins are well known to inappropriately dirty play with human's swimming around or standing in the water. Some scientists do believe they are the next highest intelligence on the planet with many human-like behaviors.

Yes and never swim with Dolphins if you are menstrual. The males can go rogue on you - drives em crazy.

they should just put "may contain dolphin" on the can, people would be outraged then and not buy it, wouldn't they?

They sure wouldn't. That's probably why it's not mentioned. This way they make sure to sell it.

Why, I only kill flies sometimes.

Oh, dolphins? Love 'em, there's no point in considering them "humans". Nevertheless, I don't find the affinity for animals of higher intelligance that strange, though. Seems like a pretty human way in itself to regard some species as "more equivalent" as the others. It might not be philosophically justifiable and relies entirely on our need to view other animals in an antropomorphic manner, but that seems to be the case with most people's intuitions anyway. "Oh, it can handle an object, therefore I can't eat it".

confuse

The last time I've seen dolphins must have been in the 80s.

I'm a vegetarian myself and have been that for purely ideological reason for ages, but granting some animals a special status does not necessarily mean they should be considered equal to humans. I don't think even most dog lovers really treat their pets like family memebers, the dogs are in most cases rather easily replaceable to them.
