So...Missing Utah Woman. Did the husband DO IT?

from CNN.com

28-year-old mother of two, Susan Powell is still missing despite efforts over the weekend to search for her. Police are planning to interview her husband Joshua Powell for a second time, since he was the last known person to have seen her before she vanished.

Husband Joshua Powell says he took an impromptu camping trip at midnight, the same night his wife disappeared. He told police he went with his 2-year-old and 4-year-old sons with him, in subfreezing temperatures and snow-covered ground, leaving his wife sleeping at home.

Now there are new reports that police discovered two fans blowing over a wet spot on the living room floor of the Powell home when they smashed through a window last Monday in fear the whole family may have been victims of carbon monoxide poisoning, Police won’t confirm the reports. Police do confirm that there is no other evidence of a break-in to the Powell home and that all doors and windows were locked when the entered to search the home.

Family members insist Susan Powell would never voluntarily stay away from her children this long without being in touch with her family. She left behind her cell phone, purse, wallet and house keys. The Powell’s only have one car, the van Joshua Powell took camping that night, so the young mother of two did not drive off by herself! Police say this is still a missing person’s investigation and they are still trying to investigate the campsite to confirm Powell’s camping story, but so far the weather and fresh snow has hampered this part of the police investigation. Search warrants were executed on both the Powell home-results may come at any moment!

Do you think the husband did it? Something ALWAYS have to happen when the husband is gone... disbelief A camping trip? In the cold? REALLY?

It does sound fishy. I wish there were more details. I know they can't say much during an investigation though.

Oh heck yeah! U aint got to be Perry Mason to see that something is up and the husband is the prime suspect. A freaking "impromptu" camping trip at midnight. Come on, now. That is the give away right there. U don't go camping at night, at least I never have and don't plan on it either. U got a white woman, away from her family without making contact...oh heck yeah something is up. Throw in the part about how she leaves her purse and wallet behind, man please. Don't no person, especially a women, leave her home without the purse. Either she has that disease where folks walk off and find themselves in another state, or her husband has done something to her.

ABC News has learned that fewer than 20 people visit the remote campground each winter. The temperature the night Powell allegedly took the couple's sons, ages 4 and 2, to the campground was between 10 and 25 degrees, with rain and snow. Powell told police they set out for the trip around 12:30 a.m.

Oh, hell no. Have they asked the 4-year-old about the trip?

The husband's story is laughable.

The 4 year old says they did go camping, but the husband's story is still laughable.

The local news is not giving lots of details about the case, but the husband has gotten an attorney and is not being very cooperative per the police.

If he did actually take them out in that weather, it's frightening, and I would seriously question whether he wanted the kids to live through that night or not.

No kidding. It was BITTERLY cold. Susan Powell's friends have told the media there's no way she would have been okay with him taking the kids camping in those temperatures, adding more suspicion.

Question though, has anyone, family, friends, media said whether he has Aspberger's or not? when the family and friends were describing him as a little strange and watching him on TV here he seemed Aspby to me. Not saying that he didn't do it but I didn't get the "creepy lying weirdo" vibe from him like I did from the others (The Peterson wife killers). I just got a he's socially inept vibe from him. shrug

From what I've seen they're not really saying that. Her brother-in-law has described him as being a bit odd (paraphrasing), but that's all I've heard.

Utah is basically the Wasatch Front, Norther Utah and Southern Utah.

Wasatch Front = Ogden to the north-Salt Lake City in the middle-Provo to the south.

The SLC area is a whole bunch of smaller towns that have all grown together.

These incidences are happening in the SLC area west side (I think, I'd have to check). To put it another way, they both have happened within a 30-50 mile radius.
